Well, Tarnished, brace yourselves. The Lands Between are about to get a whole lot more… intellectual. FromSoftware just dropped a brand new gameplay trailer for Elden Ring: Nightreign - The Forsaken Hollows, and it's all about the Scholar. And let me tell you, this ain't your grandma's kindly old librarian. This Scholar is bringing the pain, armed with knowledge that's apparently just as potent as any colossal sword.
Elden Ring Nightreign: Forsaken Hollows REVEALED! ...
The trailer gives us our first real glimpse at the Scholar class in action, and it's looking pretty darn cool. Instead of relying solely on brute force, this class seems to blend combat with potent magical abilities, focusing on intelligence and strategic spellcasting. Think calculated devastation, rather than just smashing everything in sight. I always liked playing a mage, but they often felt squishy - I'm hoping this Scholar will be a bit more robust.
What's particularly interesting is how the Scholar's abilities seem to synergize with the existing Elden Ring gameplay. We see them using a variety of spells, some offensive, some defensive, and some that appear to manipulate the environment. Imagine dropping a well-placed gravity spell to send a charging enemy tumbling off a cliff – pure tactical brilliance. It really opens up the possibilities for approaching combat encounters in completely new ways. Forget just dodging and rolling (though you'll still probably need to do plenty of that!).
Of course, the trailer leaves us wanting more. We only get a brief taste of the Scholar's potential, and I'm itching to see what other skills and spells will be available. Will they have access to unique weapons or armor sets? Will their stat scaling differ significantly from existing mage builds? The questions are endless, and honestly, that's what makes these pre-release teases so much fun. The speculation and theory-crafting among the Elden Ring community is always a blast to witness.
Mark your calendars, fellow Tarnished, because the wait isn't too much longer. Elden Ring: Nightreign - The Forsaken Hollows officially launches on December 4th, bringing the Scholar and all its intellectual might to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam). I know what I'll be playing over the holidays, that's for sure. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some intelligence-based builds to start planning. See you in The Forsaken Hollows!
