Black Friday is here, folks, and for those of us deep in the cardboard crack that is Magic: The Gathering, it's a chance to bolster our collections without completely emptying our wallets. TCGplayer is jumping into the fray with a Black Friday sale, and they've even put together a curated list of cards they think are worth picking up. I've taken a look, and I've got to say, there are some genuinely good deals to be had.
TCGplayer Black Friday: 10 MTG Card Steals You CAN...
This isn't just about the most expensive or rarest cards, mind you. TCGplayer seems to be focusing on cards that offer a decent return on investment, either through playability, collectibility, or both. Let's dive into some of the highlights.
First up, we have the ever-present Sol Ring. Yes, *that* Sol Ring. It's in almost every Commander precon ever printed. But the Fallout-themed Pip-Boy version? That's something special. For around $30, you can add a little radioactive flair to your mana ramp. It's a fun, thematic upgrade to a staple card. I personally think these themed versions are just really cool and worth it for the novelty.
Then there's The Ur-Dragon. Dragon decks are always popular, and this 10/10 behemoth turns dragon attacks into card draw. It's currently experiencing a bit of a price dip, making it available for around $30. The real kicker is that it's a five-color Commander, opening up a world of deck-building possibilities. I've always wanted a solid Dragon deck, and this card could be the key.
For those feeling a little evil, Sauron, the Dark Lord is an interesting choice. This formidable 7/6 forces opponents to sacrifice legendary permanents and amasses Orcs with each spell you cast. And if you’re feeling *really* fancy (and have some serious cash), you could always chase down the "One of One Ring" owned by Post Malone. For us mere mortals, the normal One Ring, with its indestructibility, card draw, and protection, is available for around $80.
The Special Guests version of Stoneforge Mystic, priced around $30, is another standout. The artwork is gorgeous, and the card itself is a powerhouse in Equipment-centric decks. It retrieves Equipment cards and puts them directly into play. Talk about value!
Blue players, rejoice! Omniscience is on sale. This ten-mana enchantment eliminates mana costs for all your spells. Think of it as a "win the game" button in many situations. The anime-style version from Wilds of Eldraine is still Standard Legal and goes for around $25.
Other notable mentions include Wan Shi Tong, Librarian (around $60, with $6 back in store credit), Ojer Taq, Deepest Foundation, and Ugin, Eye of the Storms in a Showcase variant (around $70). All solid cards with interesting abilities and potential for powerful plays.
So, there you have it. A few picks from TCGplayer's Black Friday sale that are worth a look. Happy shopping (and may your pulls be ever in your favor)!
