Resident Evil Mobile: 10 Days, Record Downloads! What's the Secret?!
Gaming News 28 November 2025

Hot on the heels of zombies, Capcom's got another hit on its hands, this time in the mobile gaming world. Their new strategy title, Resident Evil: Survival Unit, has absolutely exploded onto the scene, racking up over two million downloads in a mere ten days since its launch on November 18th. That's... well, that's a lot of zombie slaying on the go.

The co-developers, Aniplex Inc. and Joycity Corporation, are understandably thrilled. They released a statement calling the achievement "outstanding," and honestly, it's hard to argue with that assessment. To celebrate this monstrous milestone, they're giving players a little something extra. Head over to the promo code redemption site and punch in '2m Survivors' to snag a special in-game reward. Free stuff is always good, right?

Resident Evil: Survival Unit brings together some of the most beloved characters from the Resident Evil franchise. We're talking Leon Kennedy, Ada Wong, Claire Redfield – the whole gang's here, ready to battle the undead. As a long-time fan of the series, it's cool to see these iconic characters finding new life (pun intended!) on a new platform.

It's particularly interesting to compare this mobile success with the performance of Resident Evil 7 on iOS. While 83,000 downloads in 10 days isn't exactly a flop, reports indicate that the game sold fewer than 2,000 copies. It seems like the mobile market is a fickle beast, and Capcom's figured out a winning formula with Survival Unit. Maybe the freemium, strategy-based approach is just better suited for phones than porting over a full-fledged survival horror title.

Looking further down the road, Resident Evil: Requiem is set to unleash its horrors on consoles and PC on February 27th of next year. After some hiccups with Monster Hunter Wilds earlier this year, Capcom's been keen to reassure fans that they're laser-focused on getting the PC version of Requiem right. They've emphasized that the development team is dedicating significant resources to optimizing the PC experience, which is definitely music to the ears of PC gamers who've been burned by poor ports in the past. Here's hoping they deliver; a solid PC release can make or break a game these days.
