Beyond Charlie Brown: Unearth Forgotten Peanuts Holiday Treasures!
Books & Literature 28 November 2025

Okay, so everyone knows "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving," right? They’re practically mandatory viewing this time of year. But the Peanuts gang didn’t just hang out for the big two holidays. Charles Schulz, bless his heart, saw holiday potential in pretty much everything. And that means there’s a whole bunch of lesser-known Peanuts holiday specials out there just waiting to be rediscovered.

Beyond Charlie Brown: Unearth Forgotten Peanuts Ho...

And honestly, some of them are really great. I remember stumbling across "Happy New Year, Charlie Brown" a few years ago on Apple TV+, and it was like finding a twenty-dollar bill in an old coat. It’s got that classic Peanuts blend of melancholy and humor, with Charlie Brown trying to slog through "War and Peace" while simultaneously dreaming of dancing with the Little Red-Haired Girl. Plus, Snoopy’s got a hilarious subplot involving root beer. What more could you want?

Then there's "Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown." Valentine's Day is always fertile ground for Peanuts angst. Charlie Brown, naturally, is bracing for another year of no valentines, Linus is obsessing over his teacher (as per usual), and Peppermint Patty and Marcie are… well, they're just being Peppermint Patty and Marcie. It’s chaotic, it’s sweet, and it’s definitely worth a watch if you're feeling a little cynical about love this February. The mention of the Easter Beagle, though, definitely confuses the holiday narrative.

Don’t even get me started on "You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown." This one’s gold. Lucy, in full campaign manager mode, is both terrifying and hilarious. Linus, running for class president, makes the fatal mistake of mentioning the Great Pumpkin. Seriously, politics and giant gourds don’t mix. It really reminds me of some modern political campaigns – a mix of idealism and utter, utter absurdity.

And that’s not all! There are other, even *more* obscure Christmas specials out there. One features Sally and Peppermint Patty getting completely flustered during the school pageant. In another one, Rerun (remember Rerun?) tries to adopt Snoopy’s brother, Spike. Let's just say things don't go smoothly. The point is, if you're a die-hard Peanuts fan and you're looking for something a little different, these specials are definitely worth checking out. They might not be as iconic as the Thanksgiving or Christmas ones, but they've still got that Peanuts magic.

So, have you unearthed any of these hidden Peanuts treasures? What are your favorites? Let me know on Bluesky! I’m always up for a good Peanuts discussion.
