**Gaming Nostalgia Overload! The ULTIMATE List of Remakes is HERE!**
Gaming News 28 November 2025

The remake craze is in full swing, folks, and honestly, I'm not complaining. While remasters offer a quick visual facelift, remakes are where the real magic happens. We're talking about fundamental improvements, rebuilt assets, and sometimes, even expanded storylines. It's more than just playing an old game on a new console; it's like experiencing it for the first time, but with all the wisdom of hindsight incorporated. These projects are breathing new life into beloved classics, smoothing out the rough edges, and ensuring these games can be enjoyed by a whole new generation.

But with so many remakes announced, it's getting hard to keep track! So, I've compiled a list of the most anticipated projects in development. This list focuses specifically on *remakes*, meaning substantial overhauls, not just upscaled textures and frame rates (sorry, remaster fans!). We're talking rebuilds from the ground up, folks. I've organized them chronologically by their projected release window, and I'll be updating this list as new announcements drop and release dates solidify.

First up, we have Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, slated for February 5, 2026. Square Enix is giving this classic RPG a gorgeous, hand-crafted makeover. Think diorama-inspired visuals and tweaked turn-based combat to be more engaging. A welcome change is the elimination of random encounters; monsters are now visible in the field. It's promising to be a significant upgrade to a game that, while beloved, could definitely use some modernization.

Following closely behind on February 12, 2026, is Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties. Finally! Many fans (myself included) consider *Yakuza 3* the entry most in need of a modern revamp. Ryu Ga Gotoku is delivering, and then some. The remake includes a brand new story expansion, *Dark Ties*, focusing on the antagonist Yoshitaka Mine. This is more than just a remake; it's a chance to delve deeper into the Yakuza universe.

Then, on March 12, 2026, prepare to be terrified again with the Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake. This PS2 classic is getting a visual and gameplay overhaul, refining the camera-based action that made it so unique. And the best part? Mio and Maya can now hold hands! As if this adventure wasn't scary enough!

Looking further into 2026, we have a few more promising titles on the horizon. Danganronpa 2x2 is a remake of *Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair* that retains the original story but adds a brand new scenario. This should be great for fans. Fate/Extra Record is rebuilding *Fate/Extra* with updated graphics and enhanced gameplay. Finally, there's the Gothic 1 Remake, aiming for a faithful update with modernized combat and controls. The original *Gothic* is pretty dated at this point, so I look forward to this one. It's exciting to see these classics get the love and attention they deserve. Stay tuned for more updates!
