Okay, Stranger Things fans, buckle up because the Duffer Brothers are apparently pulling no punches for the final season. If you're trying to avoid spoilers, look away now! Apparently, the cold open for Episode 2 of Season 5, aptly titled "The Vanishing of Holly Wheeler," is absolutely bonkers.
Stranger Things Season 5: Episode 2 Cold Open Will...
The news is spreading like wildfire, and honestly, it sounds like the kind of chaotic start that will immediately have everyone glued to their screens. Forget easing into the season, it seems we're diving headfirst into the Upside Down.
So, what happens? Well, according to reports, it kicks off with Karen Wheeler, bless her heart, becoming a full-on action hero. Forget the concerned mom routine, she's apparently defending her family from a Demogorgon with a shattered wine bottle! You have to admire the resourcefulness, right? But, unfortunately, it's not quite enough. The Demogorgon overpowers her, tragically slashing her chest and then snatching poor Holly, dragging her into the Upside Down. Talk about a worst-case scenario!
And where's Ted Wheeler during all this mayhem? Practicing his golf swing outside, naturally. You almost have to laugh, right? It's classic Ted. But wait, there's a twist! He notices the flickering lights – that tell-tale sign of something seriously wrong in Hawkins – and bravely (or perhaps obliviously) enters the house armed with his golf club.
According to Matt Duffer, Ted actually manages to get a good swing in! "He has a slight moment. I mean, he does swing the golf club. It doesn’t do a whole lot, but he gets one good swing in," Duffer revealed. Apparently, it’s "the best swing of his life," and he even manages to connect with the Demogorgon's head, doing "probably as much damage as one could possibly do with a golf club." I honestly hope that scene makes it into the final cut because that would be amazing.
Look, I'm not going to lie, this all sounds completely insane. I remember when Season 1 dropped and it was this charming blend of Goonies and X-Files. Now we're talking about wine bottle-wielding moms and golf club-swinging dads battling interdimensional monsters. It’s been quite a journey, hasn't it? It definitely seems like the Duffer brothers are going out with a bang. Personally, I can't wait to see how they wrap this whole thing up. I just hope Holly's okay!
