Well folks, winter's officially here, and what better way to escape the plummeting temperatures than by diving headfirst into some new PlayStation games? Sony just dropped the bomb on December's PS Plus lineup, and it's looking pretty… eclectic, to say the least. We're not just talking three games this month either; Santa Sony's giving us a whole FIVE titles!

Headlining the list is the intriguing (and perhaps slightly baffling) Lego Horizon Adventures. Yes, you read that right. Aloy's open-world adventure gets the brick treatment, aiming for a family-friendly reimagining of Horizon Zero Dawn. Now, initial impressions are… mixed. Eurogamer, never one to mince words, calls it "a decidedly joyless kind of game," suggesting it's more visually appealing than actually fun to play. Ouch. It sounds like it might be a case of brand recognition outweighing actual gameplay, which is a shame. I was personally hoping for a Lego game with the depth of the original Horizon. Guess we'll have to see for ourselves!
Thankfully, the lineup isn't all blocky disappointment. We also have Neon White, a game that's about as far from Lego as you can get. This stylish, anime-infused speedrunner is published by Annapurna, so you know it's going to be something special. Oisin Kuhnke at Eurogamer raves about its "airtight controls, smooth speedrunning and a big helping of anime-inspired flair," going so far as to say "few games can keep up with Neon White's pace." That sounds like my kind of adrenaline rush!
If you're in the mood for something a bit darker, The Outlast Trials might be up your alley. This horror title promises a terrifying cooperative experience. Vikki Blake, in her early access review, described it as "excessive and frantically enjoyable - but can occasionally tip over into frustration more than fear," giving it a solid, but not stellar, three out of five stars. So, manage your expectations accordingly – it might be more stressful than scary, depending on your tolerance for jump scares and co-op chaos.
Rounding out the festive (or not-so-festive) package are Killing Floor 3 and Synduality Echo of Ada. Frankly, I haven't had much time to dig into these two yet, but Killing Floor is typically a solid zombie shooter for those who enjoy horde mode mayhem. So, five games in total! Lego Horizon Adventures, Killing Floor 3, The Outlast Trials, Synduality Echo of Ada, and Neon White will all be available to PlayStation Plus members starting next Tuesday, December 2nd, and will remain on the service until Monday, January 5th.
One last thing: don't forget to snag Stray, EA Sports WRC 24, and Totally Accurate Battle Simulator before they disappear from the service on Monday, December 1st. You know, just in case you need a cat simulator, a racing game, or some hilariously wobbly battles to tide you over until the new year. And as always, for the complete rundown on PS Plus and its ever-expanding library, be sure to check out our comprehensive guide. Happy gaming, everyone!
