Tron Fans, Prepare! Jared Leto's 'Ares' Gets SHOCKING Release Dates!
Gaming News 26 November 2025

Alright, Tron fans, mark your calendars! Jared Leto's highly anticipated (or perhaps, cautiously awaited) "Tron: Ares" finally has release dates. It's been a long time coming, hasn't it? After what feels like forever in development limbo, we're actually going to get to see it.

Tron Fans, Prepare! Jared Leto's 'Ares' Gets SHOCK...

The digital premiere is pegged for December 2nd. So, get your Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home accounts ready for either a rental or a full purchase. I'm already mentally preparing my watchlist. But for those of us who still appreciate the tangible satisfaction of physical media (yes, we exist!), you'll have to wait a bit longer. The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and DVD are dropping on January 6th, 2026. Yep, almost a year and a half away. Guess Disney really wants to build up the anticipation, or maybe they're just really thorough with their post-production.

And speaking of physical media, Disney is also throwing a bone to the collectors out there. A limited-edition Steelbook DVD is on the way, and you know what that means: exclusive packaging and artwork. Let's be honest, sometimes that's half the reason to buy these things. Plus, it's packed with bonus content. We're talking deleted scenes (always intriguing) and five featurettes. Hopefully, they're not just fluff pieces; I'm hoping for some real behind-the-scenes gold.

Variety snagged some details on those featurettes. Apparently, "The Journey To Tron: Ares" will feature insights from Leto himself, director Joachim Rønning, and other members of the cast and crew. They'll be diving into the film's visuals, stunts, costumes, and sets. I'm particularly interested in the "Lightcycles On The Loose" featurette. Rønning will apparently be breaking down one of the film's big action sequences and the work of the ILM artists. Expect some seriously impressive CGI fireworks there.

Now, it's worth remembering that "Tron: Ares" was initially intended as a franchise reboot, a springboard for multiple sequels. Fifteen years is a long time between installments, and the buzz around this one hasn't exactly been universally positive. In fact, IGN's review wasn't exactly glowing, giving it a 5/10 and saying it "somehow forgets where it came from." Ouch. They also noted that it makes the Grid "paler by comparison" to the original. That's definitely not what you want to hear.

Despite the lukewarm reception, IGN also has a piece called "Tron: Ares Ending and Post-Credits Scene Explained," which explores how the film sets up a possible "Tron 4." So, maybe there's still hope for the future of the franchise. We'll just have to wait and see how "Tron: Ares" performs when it finally hits screens, both digital and physical.
