NY Times Reveals 2025's 100 Best Books! You Won't Believe #1!
Books & Literature 25 November 2025

Well, folks, it's that time of year again. The holiday decorations are up (or almost up, if you're like me and still clinging to fall!), and the "Best Books of the Year" lists are starting to roll out like clockwork. Hot off the press, we have *The New York Times*'s 100 Notable Books of 2025. Yes, you read that right – 2025! Seems like they're getting ahead of the game, which, honestly, in this fast-paced world, I appreciate.

NY Times Reveals 2025's 100 Best Books! You Won't ...

The *Times*'s list is always an interesting one because it isn’t afraid to venture beyond the usual suspects. While you'll undoubtedly find some of the bigger names and critically acclaimed novels that have been buzzing all year (or will be buzzing next year, in this case!), they also tend to highlight smaller, more independent works. It's a refreshing mix, if you ask me, and a good way to discover something totally new and unexpected.

According to Book Riot, which is a fantastic resource for all things bookish, the list spans "literary fiction to nonfiction to 'dazzlingly weird fiction.'" I’m particularly intrigued by that last category! Seriously, who doesn’t love a good dose of weirdness in their reading life? Makes things a whole lot more interesting, doesn't it?

I did a little digging and spotted a few titles that caught my eye, even just from the initial mentions. John Birdsall's *What is Queer Food?* sounds utterly fascinating. I mean, food and identity are such intertwined subjects, and I can only imagine the insightful explorations Birdsall delves into. Then there's *The Colony* by Annika Norlin. The title alone conjures up all sorts of intriguing images. And finally, *Night Watch: Poems* by Kevin Young. Poetry is often overlooked, but Young is a master of the craft, and I'm sure this collection will be a powerful read.

These "Best of" lists, while subjective, serve as a fantastic roadmap for our reading adventures. The *Times*'s 100 Notable Books of 2025 is a great starting point for expanding your literary horizons and perhaps discovering your next favorite author or genre. So, grab your reading glasses, clear some space on your shelves (you’re gonna need it!), and get ready to dive into the literary treasures of 2025… a little early! Happy reading, everyone!
