Stellar Blade's PC Port FADING?! Fans Stunned by Shocking Data!
Gaming News 25 November 2025

Stellar Blade, the stylish action RPG from Shift Up, is riding high after a successful launch, particularly on PC. According to a recent presentation to investors, the PC version has blasted past the million-copy mark in just three days! That contributed to a combined total of three million copies sold across both PC and PS5, which is nothing to sneeze at. The game is also boasting an "overwhelmingly positive" reception on Steam, with a whopping 98% of PC players recommending it. It seems Eve's adventure resonated with PC gamers in a big way.

Of course, it's important to put things in perspective. While Stellar Blade is doing well, it's not exactly Helldivers 2 numbers. That co-op shooter continues to dominate charts, selling an estimated 12.7 million copies. Still, Stellar Blade's PC launch was fairly recent, hitting the platform just a few months ago in June, and brought along some PC-specific features, which always helps.

However, not all is rosy in the garden of PlayStation PC ports. A new report from Alinea Analytics, highlighted by PushSquare, suggests that while Sony has raked in a massive $1.5 billion from its Steam ports, the momentum might be slowing down. They're seeing that sequels like Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarök aren't hitting the same highs as their predecessors, which leads them to believe "the novelty is wearing off."

Alinea analyst Rhys Elliott put it quite plainly: "All of Sony’s major franchises have already landed on PC. The audience that was once excited to experience these games for the first time has largely been served. Later releases naturally face smaller potential audiences, and our estimates clearly show this." It's a valid point. The initial excitement of seeing these PlayStation exclusives on PC was HUGE. Now, the market may be getting saturated, and players are becoming more discerning.

The numbers back up this theory. The report pointed out that God of War sold over 2.5 million copies in its first 427 days on Steam, that is more than 2.5 times the Ragnarök’s sales in the same timeframe. Furthermore, only 13% of God of War's Steam players also picked up Ragnarök on Steam. A similar trend is evident with the Spider-Man sequel. That’s a pretty significant drop-off. It does seem that the initial wave of PC players eager to experience these games has largely been satisfied.

Interestingly, Valve is estimated to have pocketed around $350 million from their 30% cut of all games purchased on Steam. Not bad for simply providing the platform! Meanwhile, Shift Up is already working on Stellar Blade 2. It'll be interesting to see how that game performs, especially on PC, given these shifting trends. IGN gave the original Stellar Blade a 7/10, praising its core action but pointing out issues with the story and RPG elements. Maybe they'll address some of those criticisms in the sequel.

And of course, with Black Friday just around the corner, keep an eye out for deals on video games, tech, and everything in between. You might even snag Stellar Blade for a steal!
