The holiday season got a seriously sweet kick-off in Marbella last week, as the La Fonda Heritage Hotel unveiled what’s being touted as the world's largest cookie Christmas tree. I have to admit, even as a seasoned reporter, the pictures are pretty impressive. The installation, a towering two-metre edible masterpiece, was officially lit up on Friday, November 21st, marking the start of the festive period in the heart of Marbella's historic district.
Marbella's Cookie Tree is HUGE! You Won't Believe ...
The event itself was quite the affair, drawing a crowd of over 80 guests including local bigwigs, business leaders, and, of course, the hotel's loyal clientele. Imagine the scene: hundreds of beautifully decorated cookies, nearly 1,000 in total, suspended within the hotel's already stunning atrium. I can only imagine the aroma! Apparently, it was a glamorous ceremony, and from what I've heard, the atmosphere was electric.
Behind this impressive display is none other than a Mr. Wingham (first name not provided in the press release, strangely). According to him, the aim was to "blend tradition, luxury, and fantasy," transforming the hotel’s atrium into an "immersive experience" that would surprise every guest. And I suspect he's succeeded. It's not every day you see a cookie Christmas tree that size, is it?
Adding to the glitz and glamour of the evening were Euro Weekly News’ own Nicole King and Kate Hill from Good Morning Spain, both there to witness the spectacle. It definitely speaks volumes about the hotel's increasing recognition, both locally and internationally.
Speaking of which, La Fonda is clearly on a roll. As a member of Relais & Châteaux, they've recently been awarded the prestigious Michelin Key, a testament to their exceptional hospitality. And if that wasn’t enough, American Express has also named them as one of the Trending Destinations for 2026, specifically highlighting their contribution to Marbella's vibrant gastronomic and cultural scene. It seems like Marbella is becoming more and more of a destination, and La Fonda is clearly playing a big role in that.
Honestly, I’m already thinking about booking a trip down there just to see this cookie tree in person. Maybe next year, eh? It just goes to show, sometimes the sweetest things in life are also the most impressive. And if they taste as good as they look, well, I might need a bigger suitcase.
