Hold on to your hats, thriller fans! The brilliant mind behind Netflix's smash hit "Lupin," George Kay, is cooking up something new, and this time it's for ITV. Titled "Gone," this suspenseful cat-and-mouse thriller promises to be a real nail-biter, and frankly, with Kay at the helm, I'm already hooked.
David Morrissey & Eve Myles Vanish! ITV's 'Gone' P...
The cast is stellar, too. David Morrissey, whom we all know and love (or perhaps fear) from "The Walking Dead," and the incredibly talented Eve Myles of "Keeping Faith" fame are set to lead the charge. I've always been impressed by Myles' ability to portray complex, emotionally-driven characters, so seeing her in a thriller is definitely exciting. Morrissey, well, he can play a villain like nobody's business, so I’m curious to see what side of the law he’ll be on this time.
The setting itself sounds wonderfully atmospheric: an elite private school, a dark, foreboding forest, and the seemingly tranquil city of Bristol. This combination provides such a rich tapestry for a suspenseful narrative. "Gone" will center around Headmaster Michael Polly, but details beyond that are still scarce. Personally, I always find private school settings in thrillers particularly intriguing - they just seem to breed secrets, don't they?
What’s really interesting is the level of real-world experience feeding into this project. "Gone" is actually inspired by the career of Julie Mackay, a former Detective Superintendent for Gloucestershire Police, and ITV Crime Correspondent Robert Murphy. These two are serving as consultants, which gives the whole project a serious dose of authenticity. You know, the kind that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up because it feels so… real. Having that level of police procedural knowledge behind the scenes is definitely going to elevate the realism and complexity of the plot.
Richard Laxton, known for his work on "Mrs. Wilson," is directing. Alongside Morrissey and Myles, the cast includes a host of other talented actors, including Jennifer Macbeth, Arthur Hughes, and Nicholas Nunn. With such a strong team both in front of and behind the camera, it's easy to see why ITV drama head Polly Hill is so confident. She describes it as a "beautifully captivating story," and, honestly, I’m inclined to agree before even seeing a single frame of footage. I think we're in for a treat when "Gone" finally hits our screens. Consider me officially on the edge of my seat!
