Zelensky's SHOCK Warning: Is US Support for Ukraine COLLAPSING?!
Current Affairs 22 November 2025

Zelensky has thrown down the gauntlet, warning that Ukraine risks losing crucial U.S. support over a White House-backed peace plan that’s currently making the rounds. The news comes amidst Putin’s somewhat lukewarm endorsement of the plan as a potential “basis” for ending the conflict, tempered with the usual caveat that Russia is perfectly happy to keep fighting if necessary.

Zelensky's SHOCK Warning: Is US Support for Ukrain...

In a somber address to the nation on Friday, Zelensky didn't mince words. He stated that Ukraine "might face a very difficult choice: either losing dignity, or risk losing a key partner," characterizing the situation as "one of the most difficult moments in our history." That's pretty stark language, and it underscores just how precarious things are for Kyiv right now.

So what's in this peace plan that's got everyone so worked up? Well, reports suggest it includes proposals that Ukraine has consistently rejected in the past. Things like ceding control of eastern territories – essentially handing Putin a victory – drastically shrinking its military, and promising to stay out of NATO. No surprise Putin is open to that kind of arrangement.

Putin, during a meeting with his security cabinet, confirmed that Moscow had received the plan but hadn't gone through it with a fine-tooth comb. He played the statesman, saying Russia was willing to "show flexibility" while simultaneously reminding everyone that they’re ready for the long haul. Classic Putin, really. He's covering all bases.

The elephant in the room, of course, is Ukraine's reliance on U.S. weaponry and intelligence. We're talking about the advanced air defense systems that keep Russian planes out of the sky, the intel that allows Ukraine to target Russian positions. Without that, things get significantly tougher. And it’s not just about weapons, it’s about the signal that a loss of U.S. support sends to other allies. You start to wonder who's going to stick around if Uncle Sam heads for the exit.

Zelensky, in his address, alluded to the pressure Ukraine is facing "to weaken us, to make divide us," urging his people to remain united. He’s trying to project strength and resolve, which, let's be honest, is exactly what you'd expect him to do. He also mentioned phone calls with the UK, France, and Germany, seemingly seeking assurances of continued support. Starmer, Macron and Merz all chimed in with supportive but measured language in the aftermath.

Interestingly, Zelensky highlighted a conversation with U.S. Vice-President JD Vance and Army Secretary Dan Driscoll and made a point of saying Ukraine "always respected" Trump's efforts to end the war. That might be a signal towards a future, potentially Trump-led, American policy. Trump himself chimed in saying Ukraine would lose more territory to Russia "in a short amount of time" and offered them a "Thanksgiving deadline" to agree to the peace deal. This is all adding immense pressure to an already incredibly tense situation.

“We think we have a way of getting peace,” the current president said at the White House, adding that Zelensky “is going to have to approve it.” The clock is ticking, and the stakes have never been higher.
