Brendan Fraser's 'Mummy 4' BOMBSHELL: 20 Years in the Making!

Hold on to your hats, adventure fans! Brendan Fraser, the man who practically defined adventure in the late 90s and early 2000s, has confirmed he's ready to dust off his fedora and return to the sands of Egypt. Word on the street – or rather, on Deadline – is that *The Mummy 4* is officially in the works at Universal, and both Fraser and Rachel Weisz are expected to reprise their iconic roles.

Brendan Fraser's 'Mummy 4' BOMBSHELL: 20 Years in ...

And Fraser, bless his heart, seems just as excited as we are. In a recent interview with the Associated Press, he confessed he's been waiting two decades for this very moment. "The one I wanted to make was never made," he said, a clear nod to his less-than-stellar experience with *The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor* (2008). Let's be honest, while it had its moments, that China-based installment just didn't capture the same magic as the first two. As Fraser himself explains, "NBC had the rights to broadcast the Olympics that year...So they put two together and we went to China." Makes sense from a business perspective, I guess, but it didn't quite land with audiences.

He was quick to give credit where it's due, though. "I’m proud of the third one because I think it’s a good standalone movie. We picked up and did what we do with a different crew on deck and gave it our best shot.” But let's face it, everyone wanted Rick O'Connell exploring ancient Egyptian tombs again, not traipsing around China. Fraser gets it. He really gets it.

What’s really got me pumped is the passion in his voice. “But the one I wanted to make is forthcoming. And I’ve been waiting 20 years for this call. Sometimes it was loud, sometimes it was a faint telegraph. Now? It’s time to give the fans what they want.” That's the Brendan Fraser we all know and love – the one who understands what made the original *Mummy* films so special. It wasn't just the special effects (though they were pretty groundbreaking for their time), it was the chemistry between Fraser and Weisz, the witty banter, and the sheer sense of adventure.

Behind the scenes, it looks like Universal is pulling out all the stops. Radio Silence's Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (the duo behind the recent *Scream* revival) are set to direct, with a script penned by David Coggeshall. And crucially, Sean Daniel, a veteran of the franchise, is producing. This all feels like a recipe for success, a chance to recapture that classic *Mummy* magic. Personally, I can't wait to see what kind of ancient curses and thrilling escapades Rick and Evelyn O'Connell will be facing next. Let the unearthing begin!
