Comey Case EXPLODES! DOJ Fury After Judge's SHOCKING Move
Current Affairs 20 November 2025

The Justice Department seems to be taking a rather aggressive, and some might say unusual, approach in the case against former FBI Director James Comey. Just a day after a crucial hearing, U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan and other DOJ officials are publicly criticizing the judge overseeing the case, accusing him of making statements he didn't actually make.

Comey Case EXPLODES! DOJ Fury After Judge's SHOCKI...

Specifically, the DOJ officials are taking issue with what they claim was Judge Michael Nachmanoff's assertion that Halligan was acting as a "puppet" or a "stalking horse" for former President Donald Trump. They allege the judge suggested she was carrying out Trump's personal vendetta against Comey. However, the courtroom exchange, as reported by multiple sources, paints a different picture.

In reality, Judge Nachmanoff was questioning Comey's attorney, Michael Dreeben, asking if *their* position was that Halligan was acting as a puppet. The judge himself never explicitly stated this was his belief, and a DOJ attorney present, Tyler Lemons, even rejected that characterization in court. It's a pretty significant distinction, and the DOJ's apparent misrepresentation is raising eyebrows.

To recap, Comey was indicted back in September on charges of lying to Congress. This came after a series of events that certainly raise questions. Trump ousted the previous U.S. Attorney, Erik Siebert, and replaced him with Halligan, a White House staffer with zero prior experience as a prosecutor. Then, he publicly called on then-Attorney General Pam Bondi to "act NOW!!!" and prosecute Comey, along with other political adversaries. Comey, of course, has pleaded not guilty.

During Wednesday's hearing, Comey's legal team argued that Trump was actively "manipulating the machinery of prosecution" by installing his former staffer and lawyer and publicly demanding his political opponents be charged. They characterized this as an "egregious violation of bedrock constitutional values." It's a powerful accusation, and one that certainly carries weight considering the circumstances.

Adding another layer to this already complex situation, Halligan also testified that while the grand jury voted to indict Comey on two of the original three counts, the final, revised indictment was only reviewed by the jury foreperson and one other grand juror, not the entire panel. This raises questions about the integrity of the indictment process itself. This whole case is turning into a real legal and political minefield, isn't it?
