Animated Film STOLE God of War Scene?! You Won't Believe What They Copied!

Hold on to your Leviathan Axes, folks, because we might have a case of some serious inspiration – or, dare I say, outright copying – going on in the animation world. A recently released animated Indian film, *Mahavatar Narasimha*, is raising eyebrows after a social media post highlighted a striking similarity to a particularly brutal scene from Sony Santa Monica's critically acclaimed 2018 *God of War* reboot.

Animated Film STOLE God of War Scene?! You Won't B...

Now, full disclosure, I hadn't even heard of *Mahavatar Narasimha* until this morning. It popped up on my feed courtesy of Black Thunder, a PlayStation fan account with some serious clout. You might recognize the name; Sony Santa Monica even gave them a shout-out in *God of War Ragnarök* with the "Black Thunder" pub nestled within Asgard's walls. So, when Black Thunder flags something, people tend to listen.

The post shows a side-by-side comparison of a scene from *Mahavatar Narasimha* and a specific moment in *God of War* where Kratos, in his signature rage, brutally dispatches an enemy. And, well, the similarities are... undeniable. We're talking almost identical camera angles, character poses, and even the way the enemy is dispatched. It's beyond a simple coincidence, in my opinion.

Of course, inspiration is a huge part of art, and homages happen all the time. But this feels different. This feels less like a respectful nod and more like a, let's just say, very liberal interpretation of the source material. It'll be interesting to see if the creators of *Mahavatar Narasimha* address these claims. As the first installment in a planned seven-part "Mahavatar Cinematic Universe," they're likely hoping this doesn't tarnish their reputation too early on. Plagiarism is pretty bad PR!

Speaking of *God of War*, remember that Amazon series that was announced way back in December 2022? Well, showrunner Ronald D. Moore recently reassured fans that the adaptation will stay largely faithful to the 2018 game. He emphasized that it won’t be a frame-by-frame remake, which is probably a good thing. We want a fresh take, not a carbon copy. Rumor has it filming is scheduled to kick off in March of next year, so we'll be seeing Kratos and Atreus on our screens (again) before we know it. Just hopefully, this time without any unintended resemblances to other works. Food for thought!
