The Calling in Abu Dhabi! Will This Be Their Last Show Ever?!

The Calling in Abu Dhabi! Will This Be Their Last Show Ever?!
Current Affairs 20 November 2025

Okay, so The Calling, those guys who brought us "Wherever You Will Go" back in the early 2000s, are heading to Abu Dhabi. It's kind of wild to think about that song still resonating so strongly, but hey, good music is timeless, right? Anyway, they've just announced their first-ever Middle East concert, which is set to happen on February 14, 2026 – Valentine's Day, of all days – at 321 Sports on Hudayriyat Island.

The Calling in Abu Dhabi! Will This Be Their Last ...

This isn't just some random gig, though. Apparently, it's a signature headliner for the inaugural AccessPass Music & Sports Festival. Makes sense, I guess. Abu Dhabi's been making a real push to become a hub for live events, and snagging a band like The Calling definitely adds to that appeal. I remember back in college, everyone was obsessed with that first album. To think they're still touring and drawing crowds is pretty cool.

For those who might be a little fuzzy on the details, The Calling was basically Alex Band, the frontman with the killer voice, and Aaron Kamin on guitar. They started writing music way back in the mid-90s, even playing under a couple of different names, including the rather… *interesting* "Generation Gap," before finally landing on The Calling. It was around 1999 when they really took off, and then, boom, "Wherever You Will Go" was everywhere. You couldn't escape it, but honestly, nobody really wanted to.

Hudayriyat Island, by the way, is a pretty swanky spot. It's a waterfront destination known for hosting sporting events and other recreational activities. Sticking a music festival there? Yeah, that fits. It’s a bit more upscale than your average muddy field festival, I’d imagine. Plus, February in Abu Dhabi? The weather should be perfect. Not too hot, not too cold – a nice change from, say, a February in New York.

So, if you're an old-school Calling fan and happen to find yourself in the UAE in February 2026, or maybe you just want a dose of early 2000s nostalgia on Valentine’s Day, well, you know where to be. Pre-registration for tickets is open now, so might be worth checking out before they sell out. It’s going to be a unique show, and a great way to spend Valentine's Day!
