'Walking Dead' Creator's Shocking AMC Claim: Will He Get Justice?!
Movies & TV Series 20 November 2025

Another day, another lawsuit accusing AMC of shady accounting practices. This time, Dave Erickson, co-creator and showrunner for the first three seasons of "Fear the Walking Dead," is alleging he's been stiffed out of millions in profits from the zombie spinoff. And frankly, at this point, it's barely surprising.

'Walking Dead' Creator's Shocking AMC Claim: Will ...

Erickson's legal team filed a lawsuit in LA Superior Court today, outlining how "Fear the Walking Dead," which ran from 2015 to 2023, generated potentially billions for AMC. Yet, according to the filing, Erickson hasn't seen a single dime in profit participation. Instead, his latest statement allegedly shows a deficit of over $185 million. Yep, you read that right – a deficit.

What's more, the suit claims other profit participants on the show have already received at least $49 million, a figure that could be closer to $67 million considering Robert Kirkman's previous legal wrangling with AMC over "The Walking Dead" profits. The filing states that Erickson is seeking "tens of millions of dollars in profits he is rightfully owed" to rectify AMC's alleged "egregious misconduct."

Now, let’s be real, Hollywood accounting has always been a bit of a black box. But the sheer number of "Walking Dead" franchise figures who've sued AMC over similar claims is... striking, to say the least. It makes you wonder if there's a systemic problem at the network. Think about it: AMC didn't suddenly hand original "The Walking Dead" showrunner Frank Darabont a $200+ million settlement in 2021 after nearly a decade of litigation out of the kindness of their hearts. They were clearly trying to avoid more bad publicity and potential precedent.

Unsurprisingly, AMC hasn't exactly rolled out the welcome mat for Erickson's lawsuit. No official comment yet, but you can bet they'll fight tooth and nail. Erickson's legal team, however, seems ready for the battle. "Dave Erickson created a massive hit for AMC in *Fear the Walking Dead*, expanding *The Walking Dead* Universe and cementing AMC as the zombie network," said attorneys Aaron Liskin and Nick Soltman. "Despite *Fear the Walking Dead's* extraordinary success, Mr. Erickson has not received a single dollar in profits from AMC and, absent this action, he never will. We look forward to holding AMC accountable for the promises it made years ago." It's going to be a long, drawn-out legal zombie war, folks. And honestly, as a viewer, it's disheartening to see the people behind the content we enjoy seemingly getting shortchanged.
