Berseria's Back: Beloved RPG Gets Gorgeous Remaste...
## Avenged Sibling? Bandai Namco Revives "Tales of Berseria" for Modern Consoles
Get ready to set sail with a vengeance! Bandai Namco is continuing its push to revitalize the "Tales of" franchise, announcing a remastered version of 2017's "Tales of Berseria" is heading our way on February 27th. This follows on the heels of "Tales of Graces f Remastered" and "Tales of Xillia Remastered," both released earlier this year as part of the series' 30th anniversary celebrations.
For those who missed it the first time around, "Tales of Berseria" throws you into the role of Velvet Crowe, a character fueled by a burning desire for revenge after her brother is murdered. She teams up with a crew of swashbuckling pirates to achieve her goals. It's a darker, grittier tale than some of the other "Tales of" entries, which, honestly, I found refreshing back in the day.
But it's not just a straight port. Bandai Namco is touting some welcome quality-of-life improvements. We're talking about the ability to toggle enemy encounters (thank goodness!), helpful destination icons, and earlier access to the Grade Shop – a staple for series veterans. Plus, all previously released DLC will be included, giving you the complete "Berseria" experience.
Of course, not everyone was completely sold on the original. Former Game Informer editor Kimberly Wallace, in her review, gave it a respectable 7.5 out of 10. She praised the captivating storyline but noted that the execution sometimes felt "half-realized." It's a fair point. The "Tales of" series, while beloved, can sometimes feel like it's playing it a little too safe. Still, she admitted that nothing ever made her stop playing.
This remaster continues Bandai Namco’s trend of bringing older "Tales of" games to modern hardware, and I’m all for it. It gives new players a chance to experience these stories, and allows older fans like myself to revisit them with updated visuals and smoother gameplay.
"Tales of Berseria Remastered" will be gracing PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. So, whether you're a seasoned pirate or a newcomer to Velvet's quest for vengeance, mark your calendars for February 27th.
