'Wild Cards' Dealt Another Hand: CW Renews for Season 3!
Well, folks, looks like the mismatched detective duo of 'Wild Cards' is sticking around for another round of crime-solving antics. The CW has officially renewed the Canadian police drama, starring Giacomo Gianniotti (yes, McDreamy's former understudy from 'Grey's Anatomy') and Vanessa Morgan (Riverdale's resident bombshell), for a third season.
"Wild Cards" Dealt Another Hand: CW Greenlights Se...
This news might not be *entirely* shocking for those of us who keep a close eye on the Canadian television landscape. Our northern neighbors at CBC already greenlit Seasons 3 and 4 back in May, so it was really just a matter of time before The CW followed suit. Apparently, the timeline for these decisions was a bit staggered, which explains the slight delay.
But enough behind-the-scenes drama
But enough behind-the-scenes drama. Let's talk about what's actually going to happen in Season 3. According to sources, the new season picks up just a month after the season two finale. Max, our con-artist-turned-consultant, is now officially working with the police. But, as always with Max, things are about to get complicated.
First, Ellis, cleared of all charges, is back on the force, eager to team up with Max again. The writers are clearly playing with the "will they/won't they" dynamic and honestly, it's pretty effective. But that's not all! A real bombshell is dropped when the woman at Max's door turns out to be none other than her long-lost mother, Vivienne, played by Tamara Taylor. Max believed her mother was dead, so this is a major life event. This unexpected reunion is set to ignite a whole host of events in Season 3. Expect a whole lot of mother-daughter drama, further complicating Max's already… *interesting*… relationship with Ellis.
The rest of the ensemble cast, including Jason Priestley, Terry Chen, Michael Xavier, and the rest, are also set to return. And let's not forget Martin Sheen, who popped up in Season 2, so maybe he'll make a cameo appearance?
'Wild Cards,' a product of Blink49 Studios, Front Street Pictures, and Piller/Segan, is the brainchild of Michael Konyves, who also serves as showrunner. Season 3 is slated to premiere on The CW as part of their midseason lineup on January 26th at 8 PM. So mark your calendars and get ready for more quirky crime-solving, romantic tension, and family secrets! It’s going to be a wild ride, folks. I personally hope they don't jump the shark. I find the premise and the casting really good!
