In a harrowing ordeal, singer and actress Nana, formerly of the popular girl group After School, and her mother bravely fought off an armed intruder who broke into their home in Guri, east of Seoul, early Saturday morning. The suspect, a man in his 30s, has since been arrested and faces charges of aggravated robbery and inflicting injuries.

According to the Guri Police Station, the suspect gained entry to the residence by using a ladder to reach an unlocked veranda. He then confronted Nana and her mother, demanding money and inflicting injuries on both women. The suspect reportedly strangled Nana's mother during the confrontation.

A Desperate Act

The police investigation revealed that the suspect had no prior knowledge of Nana's celebrity status and selected the home at random, driven by financial desperation. He reportedly told police, "I did not know it was a celebrity's home and committed the crime because I had no money to live on." He claimed to have chosen the house after noticing the open veranda door.

Mother-Daughter Duo Overpowers Assailant

Despite being wounded, Nana and her mother displayed remarkable courage and resourcefulness, successfully overpowering the assailant. They managed to restrain him and immediately contacted the police, who arrived to take him into custody. Both Nana and her mother sustained injuries during the struggle, while the suspect also suffered a laceration to his chin and received medical treatment.

A district court issued an arrest warrant for the suspect on Sunday, and he remains in police custody. Authorities plan to refer the case to prosecutors for potential indictment upon completion of the investigation.
