Subaru is injecting fresh life into its beloved BRZ sports coupe with a limited-edition STI Sport Type RA (Record Attempt) model, exclusively for the Japanese market. Five years after the current generation's debut, this special edition boasts significant mechanical enhancements drawing inspiration from Subaru's racing endeavors. Under the hood, the BRZ STI Sport Type RA retains the familiar 2.4-liter naturally aspirated engine. However, it's not just any 2.4-liter. This version, dubbed "FA24," is adapted from the BRZ CNF (carbon neutral fuel) race car that competes in the Super Taikyu Series. Subaru engineers have meticulously minimized weight and rotational balance tolerances for key engine components like pistons, connecting rods, the crankshaft, flywheel, and clutch cover.
