Korea Water Cluster Forges Alliances in Kazakhstan...

The Korea Water Cluster, a vital hub for water technology innovation based in Daegu, has solidified its commitment to international collaboration by signing a significant memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Kazakhstan’s Almaty Water and Sewerage Company and Vietnam’s Minh Tan Group. The agreement, finalized on Thursday, aims to foster cooperation within the water industry and facilitate the entry of Korean water technology firms into overseas markets. This strategic move builds upon previous discussions held during Korea International Water Week (KIWW) 2024 and aligns with the cluster's participation in the 2025 Overseas Co-Entry Support Project, managed under the auspices of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.

Strengthening Ties in Central and Southeast Asia

The Korea Water Cluster has a proven track record of supporting international projects. Past initiatives include a sewage modernization project in the Almaty region of Kazakhstan and an eco-industrial equipment demonstration project in Vietnam, showcasing its commitment to addressing water-related challenges globally. This new MOU represents a significant step towards further expanding its influence and impact in Central and Southeast Asia.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Korea Water Cluster will spearhead the identification and proposal of collaborative projects. It will also provide crucial infrastructure and technological support, leveraging its expertise to ensure the successful execution of these ventures. Furthermore, the cluster will act as a facilitator, recommending suitable small and medium-sized Korean water companies to participate in these international endeavors.

Fostering Sustainable Water Solutions Globally

A Collaborative Approach to Water Management

The Almaty Water and Sewerage Company, a public agency responsible for water provision and wastewater management in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and Vietnam’s Minh Tan Group will play a vital role in identifying joint cooperation projects aimed at advancing water industry development. Both entities will contribute essential infrastructure, expertise, and resources within their respective markets, ensuring that projects are tailored to the specific needs and challenges of each region.

“The outcome of last year’s meetings at KIWW has now led to successful demonstration projects this year. This MOU will lay a solid foundation for our 2026 efforts,” stated Korea Water Cluster Director General Lee Jae-won. He further emphasized the cluster's unwavering commitment to supporting Korean water industry firms, stating, “We will continue to strengthen cooperation with related agencies and spare no support to ensure that Korean water industry firms produce tangible results in Central Asia and Southeast Asia.” This collaborative effort underscores the Korea Water Cluster's dedication to promoting sustainable water solutions and fostering international partnerships that benefit both Korean businesses and global communities.
