"Bad Monkey" Swings Back with New Faces for Season Two
Apple TV+'s quirky comedy "Bad Monkey," starring Vince Vaughn, is gearing up for its second season with a fresh wave of talent joining the cast. Brent Morin, Peter Billingsley, and June Diane Raphael have all signed on for recurring roles, adding to an already impressive ensemble. While details about their specific characters remain under wraps, their arrival promises to inject even more comedic energy into the show's offbeat world.
'Bad Monkey' Bananas! Morin, Billingsley & Raphael...
Morin, known for his stand-up comedy and roles in "Merry Happy Whatever" and "Undateable," brings his signature wit to the Keys. Billingsley, a veteran of the entertainment industry with a career spanning four decades, is perhaps best recognized as Ralphie from the holiday classic "A Christmas Story." Beyond acting, Billingsley has also established himself as a director, even helming Vaughn in the 2009 comedy "Couples Retreat." Raphael, a comedic powerhouse known for her roles in "Weapons" and numerous other projects, further solidifies the show's comedic foundation.
These new additions join a cast
These new additions join a cast that already includes returning favorites like Natalie Martinez, Charlotte Lawrence, and John Ortiz, alongside previously announced newcomers John Malkovich, Yvonne Strahovski, Zavior Phillips, and Nate Jackson.
"Bad Monkey," based on Carl Hiaasen's New York Times bestselling novel, follows Andrew Yancy (Vaughn), a former Miami police officer relegated to health inspector in the Florida Keys. Season one saw Yancy stumble upon a bizarre case involving a severed human arm, sparking his ambition to return to the force. His investigation led him through a labyrinth of eccentric characters and, of course, a rather troublesome monkey.
While the first season drew heavily from Hiaasen's novel, the second season will venture into uncharted territory with a completely original storyline. Developed by executive producer and showrunner Bill Lawrence ("Scrubs") through his Doozer Productions, the show is also executive produced by Jeff Ingold, Matt Tarses, Vaughn, Liza Katzer, and Adam Sztykiel.
With a blend of seasoned comedic actors, a compelling lead, and a quirky premise, "Bad Monkey" season two is poised to deliver another dose of Floridian absurdity and captivating mystery. The addition of Morin, Billingsley, and Raphael only heightens the anticipation for what's to come in the sun-soaked, crime-ridden world of "Bad Monkey."
