Alright, Pokémon fans, buckle up because *Pokémon Pokopia* just dropped, and it's already gearing up for its first limited-time event. Exclusively available on the new Nintendo Switch 2 (yes, that's right, Switch 2!), the game promises a whole new way to interact with our pocket monster pals. And what better way to kick things off than with a little Hoppip-themed fun?
Pokémon Pokopia Is Getting Its First Limited-Time ...
Mark your calendars, trainers, because "More Spores for Hoppip" begins next Monday, March 9th, at 1 p.m. Pacific Time and runs until Tuesday, March 24th, at 12:59 p.m. PT. During this period, you'll have an increased chance to befriend the adorable Cottonweed Pokémon, Hoppip. Think of it as a springtime celebration with fluffy, floating friends. Seriously, who doesn't love Hoppip?
So, what’s the deal? Befriending Hoppip will trigger the appearance of special cotton spores throughout the game's various areas. It sounds a little like collecting Easter eggs, but with a distinctly Pokémon twist. Gather enough of these spores, and you can trade them for picnic-themed furniture items. The goal? Deck out your Pokémon habitats in style! These new decorations are designed to attract Hoppip's evolutions, Skiploom and Jumpluff, too, making it a complete Hoppip family affair.
Here’s the kicker: Hoppip, Skiploom, and Jumpluff are *only* available during this event. That makes March 9th to March 24th the absolute prime time to add them to your Pokopia roster. However, and this is where things get a little sneaky, some players have already discovered a workaround. By fiddling with the Switch 2's internal clock and advancing it to March 10th, they've managed to access the event early. Clever, right? This also opens up the potential for turning the clock back if you happen to miss the event's official run. Of course, proceed with caution – messing with system clocks can sometimes lead to unexpected glitches, so you've been warned!
Keep in mind that the event requires access to towns with a rebuilt Pokémon Center. Rebuilding the first one takes around 5 to 10 hours of gameplay. So, if you're just starting out, you’ll need to put in a little work first. Oh, and one more thing: the event won't be available on Cloud Islands. Bummer, I know. But hey, there's plenty of other stuff to explore!
And while we're talking about *Pokopia*, don't forget to claim your special Ditto rug via the "Get via Internet" option in the Mystery Gifts menu! You have until January 31st, 2027 to grab it, which should give you plenty of time. You unlock the Mystery Gifts menu after about 30 minutes of playing, so it's a pretty easy freebie to snag.
*Pokémon Pokopia* is officially out today, March 5th, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2.
