Well, folks, it looks like the stars might finally be aligning for PlayStation 5 owners yearning to explore the vastness of Starfield. The rumor mill has been churning for ages, but now a rather reliable source is claiming that Bethesda's space RPG is indeed prepping for a PS5 launch, and sooner than you might think.
Starfield on PS5?! Leaker Drops BOMBSHELL! What Wi...
According to Billbil-kun, a well-known industry insider with a solid track record over at Dealabs, Starfield is slated to arrive on the PlayStation 5 on April 7th. Yep, that's just around the corner. Apparently, we're looking at both a Standard and Premium Edition being released simultaneously.
Details are still a bit hazy regarding what exactly each edition will contain, although the insider suggests that early access isn't part of the plan. Price points are rumored to be in the ballpark of £44.99/€49.99 for the Standard Edition and £59.99/€69.99 for the Premium Edition. What that "premium" gets you, though, remains a mystery for now.
Billbil-kun's sources also indicate that Microsoft is gearing up to launch pre-orders as early as March 17th or 18th. That's tantalizingly close! However, an official announcement date from Bethesda or Microsoft is still nowhere to be found. So, take it with a grain of salt, but given the source, it's definitely worth paying attention to.
Of course, the initial reception to Starfield wasn't universally glowing. Eurogamer's Chris Tapsell, in his review, acknowledged the game's immense scale and Bethesda's knack for crafting compelling side quests and emergent gameplay moments. But he also pointed out a lack of cohesion, suggesting the sheer size of the game might have come at the cost of a stronger central narrative.
And just to temper expectations a bit, Tapsell also chimed in on the Kinda Funny podcast, essentially saying that the upcoming updates and changes aren't going to fundamentally overhaul the core experience. He suggested that while Starfield fans would likely enjoy what's coming, those who initially bounced off the game might not find it a game-changer. So, temper expectations and remember that this is a huge game with a lot of potential, but it's not for everyone. We'll keep you posted as soon as we get official confirmation. Fingers crossed!
