Beşiktaş edged out Kocaelispor in a tight 1-0 away victory in their Süper Lig encounter. The Black Eagles, playing with a grit that we've come to expect from them, extended their impressive unbeaten run to a solid 16 games across all competitions. Not a bad statistic to boast about, right?

The first half, honestly, was a bit of a snoozer. Neither team really managed to assert dominance, and it ended goalless. Kocaelispor's Agyei did cause a flutter of excitement around the 18th minute, showing some pace down the right and putting in a decent cross. But Beşiktaş's keeper, Ersin Destanoğlu, was on hand to collect it after some intervention by Ndidi. Beşiktaş had a couple of chances themselves, with Oh and Keita both having shots that unfortunately didn't find the target. It just seemed like both teams were feeling each other out, and playing it safe. You could feel the tension in the air, though.

Then, in the 52nd minute, the deadlock was finally broken! Agbadou rose like a salmon to meet Cerny's corner from the right, powering a header home. A classic set-piece goal, and one that clearly sparked the game into life. It was a well-deserved goal, I thought, given Beşiktaş’s slightly increased pressure early in the second half.

Kocaelispor almost responded immediately, with Balogh unleashing a powerful low shot in the 62nd minute that agonizingly went just wide. You could see they weren't going to roll over. Cerny then nearly extended Beşiktaş’s lead, but his shot sailed just over the bar. Late into stoppage time, Kocaelispor's goalkeeper, Gökhan Değirmenci, made a crucial save to deny Olaitan, keeping the score respectable, if not favorable to his team.

Ultimately, Beşiktaş held on for the 1-0 victory, adding three valuable points to their league tally, bringing them up to 46. Not a bad result on the road, especially considering the pressure they're under to maintain their unbeaten streak.

Interestingly, manager Sergen Yalçın was absent from the bench due to a yellow card suspension. I wonder if that had any effect on the team's performance, or maybe it even spurred them on. We’ll never know for sure.

Looking forward, Beşiktaş have a massive game coming up as they host Galatasaray in week 25 – a real clash of the titans! Kocaelispor, meanwhile, will be traveling to face ikas Eyüpspor. Should be an interesting few weeks in the Süper Lig, that's for sure!
