Well folks, brace yourselves, because it's happening! Nintendo and Illumination just dropped the first teaser trailer for "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie," and honestly, it looks pretty darn amazing. After the massive success of last year's "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," the bar was set pretty high, but from what I've seen so far, they're aiming for the stars – or rather, the galaxies!
Super Mario Galaxy Movie Trailer Drops! Will It Li...
The trailer itself is a quick glimpse, focusing on the heroes and their upcoming adventure. While it's hard to glean too much from such a short clip, it's clear they're sticking with the vibrant, action-packed style that made the first movie such a hit with both kids and nostalgic adults. It's visually stunning, and the animation quality is definitely a step up. We're talking seriously impressive stuff here.
And speaking of impressive, let's talk about that voice cast! Chris Pratt is back as Mario, alongside Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, and the inimitable Jack Black reprising his role as Bowser. But it doesn’t stop there! We also get Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and some new additions to the team, including Benny Safdie, Kevin Michael Richardson, and even Brie Larson! Talk about a stacked roster.
Behind the scenes, it's essentially the same powerhouse team that brought us the first movie. Chris Meledandri of Illumination and Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo are producing, ensuring a blend of Hollywood animation expertise and Nintendo's unwavering commitment to its characters. Universal Pictures and Nintendo are co-financing, which suggests they're really confident in this project. And with good reason!
Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, the directing duo behind "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," are back in the director's chairs. Matthew Fogel is handling the screenplay, and Brian Tyler, who composed the music for the previous film, is returning to create the score. Given the phenomenal job they all did before, I feel pretty confident that they're going to capture the magic of the Mario Galaxy games perfectly.
Personally, I'm a huge fan of the Mario Galaxy series. The concept of space exploration and gravity-defying platforming within the Mario universe is nothing short of brilliant. The teaser trailer has definitely got me hyped, and I'm eager to see more. Could this potentially be even better than the first film? We'll have to wait and see, but so far, it's looking promising!
