Weekend's Hottest Games REVEALED! You Won't Believe #3!
Gaming News 28 February 2026

It's Friday again, which means the week has flown by here at (hypothetical) Game Informer HQ! Seriously, it feels like just yesterday we were debating the merits of pineapple on pizza (still against it, by the way). Anyway, this week we had some major reveals, including the cover for *Invincible VS*, dived deep with reviews of *Resident Evil Requiem* and *God of War: Sons of Sparta*, and Pokémon dropped a bombshell with their next generation announcement. So, what should you be playing this weekend? Let's dive in!

Weekend's Hottest Games REVEALED! You Won't Believ...

But first, a quick recap for those who were too busy, you know, living life: we unveiled the cover for *Invincible VS*, got cozy with the *World of Warcraft* Lead Composer to talk about crafting Midnight's human-made music, delivered our verdict on *Resident Evil Requiem* (spoiler: we liked it!), covered every single announcement from the February 2026 Pokémon Presents, announced a frankly adorable Game Boy-shaped Pokémon Soundtrack Player, and, hold onto your hats, ConcernedApe revealed you can *finally* marry Clint and Sandy in the upcoming 1.7 update for *Stardew Valley*. Oh, and we highlighted some of the best demos from the Steam Next Fest. Phew!

Personally, I've been glued to *Resident Evil Requiem* this week. Kyle Hilliard nailed it in his preview, and I echo his enthusiasm for Wesley's review. The core concept – blending the action and survival horror elements of Resident Evil into a cohesive whole – is executed brilliantly. My initial worry was that the separate sections, featuring Leon and Grace respectively, would feel disjointed and ultimately unsatisfying. Thankfully, that's not the case at all.

The contrasting paces of Leon's action-packed segments and Grace's tense, slow-burn survival horror sections actually complement each other beautifully. When the pressure in Grace's story becomes overwhelming, Leon bursts onto the scene, providing a much-needed release. It's a fantastic dynamic that keeps the gameplay fresh and engaging. Honestly, I'm also a sucker for the game's font choices – a small detail, but it adds to the overall atmosphere. Seriously, give this one a shot if you're a Resi fan. You won't regret it.

And then there's Pokémon. Charles Harte brings up a great point about *Pokémon LeafGreen & FireRed*. Those games were many people's entry point into the world of Pokémon, and for good reason! As a remake of the original *Red* and *Green* (or *Blue*, depending on where you lived), it's a nostalgic trip for veterans and a great starting point for newcomers. Charles' story about his friend is hilarious, and highlights the innocent charm of those early gaming experiences. While modern Pokémon games offer significant quality-of-life improvements, there's something special about experiencing the Kanto region in its updated, yet still classic, form. So, if you're looking for a weekend filled with nostalgia and monster catching, dust off your old Game Boy Advance (or, you know, emulate it) and give *LeafGreen* or *FireRed* a try.
