Bloodborne Remake REJECTED! Sony's Dream Project CRUSHED?!
Tech Product Reviews 27 February 2026

So, here's a bit of a bombshell for all you *Bloodborne* fanatics out there. We've been hearing whispers, seeing the hopeful posts on Reddit, and generally holding our breath for any news about a potential remake or sequel to FromSoftware's gothic masterpiece. The common wisdom? Sony was the roadblock. They were supposedly the ones holding back a glorious return to Yharnam. But according to sources, the real story is a bit more nuanced. And perhaps, a bit more disappointing.

Bloodborne Remake REJECTED! Sony's Dream Project C...

It turns out that Bluepoint Games, the studio responsible for those stunning remakes of *Shadow of the Colossus* and *Demon's Souls*, actually pitched a *Bloodborne* remake last year. Can you imagine? A fully modernized Yharnam, dripping with even more terrifying detail? But here's the kicker: the project never even made it to the starting line, and the blame doesn't fall on Sony's doorstep this time.

Apparently, FromSoftware themselves weren't convinced. That's right, the creators of *Bloodborne* reportedly passed on the remake. Now, the details are a bit murky, but the word is that Bluepoint, while incredibly talented, wasn't seen as the right fit for *Bloodborne*'s unique brand of grim, Lovecraftian horror. Think about it: Bluepoint excels at reimagining action titles with a focus on visual fidelity, but *Bloodborne* is something…else. It's got a certain soul, a specific atmosphere that's arguably more important than just graphical upgrades.

The Bloomberg report suggests the project was ultimately scrapped in January 2025 (a year from now, interestingly. Maybe that's a typo?). After the rejection, Bluepoint was encouraged to pursue other ideas. And while a *Bloodborne* remake was considered the most compelling option by some, it just wasn't meant to be. It's a tough pill to swallow, especially after years of hoping and speculating that a remake was just around the corner.

I have to admit, I'm a little bummed out. I've personally sunk countless hours into *Bloodborne*, and the idea of seeing it brought to a new generation with updated visuals and gameplay tweaks was incredibly exciting. But on the other hand, maybe FromSoftware made the right call. Maybe some games are best left untouched, preserved in their original form, imperfections and all. After all, that's often what gives them their unique character. Still, a tiny part of me will always wonder what could have been. And maybe, just maybe, someday we'll get to return to Yharnam. But for now, the hunt remains unfinished, at least in remake form.
