Hurst is sporting the iconic Kratos beard and war paint, and his stance – almost like a baseball coach leaning in with hands on his knees – suggests a protective, if somewhat weary, paternal presence. Young Callum Vinson as Atreus looks appropriately focused and… well, young. It’s a decent first impression, though the image itself is rather… reserved. Honestly, I was hoping for a little more grit, a little more Viking-esque intensity, but hey, it’s early days yet.

For those unfamiliar, the series will reportedly adapt the narrative of the 2018 "God of War" game, a critically acclaimed soft reboot that reimagined the franchise.
