Switch 2 Launch SHOCK! Resident Evil Patch Needed NOW?!
Tech Product Reviews 27 February 2026

Alright, listen up, Switch 2 owners! It seems like Nintendo is already on top of things with their brand-spanking-new console. They're specifically urging folks who are about to dive into "Resident Evil Requiem" to make absolutely sure they download and install that day-one patch before they even think about facing any biohazards. You know, the usual drill these days.

Switch 2 Launch SHOCK! Resident Evil Patch Needed ...

According to Nintendo's announcement, which landed bright and early this morning (February 27th, to be precise, the game's launch day!), this "Day 1 Patch" will bump the game up to Version 1.1.0. Now, they haven't gone into granular detail about what exactly this patch fixes or improves, but let's be honest, with modern game development, these day-one patches are practically mandatory. They’re usually there to squash any last-minute bugs, optimize performance, and generally ensure a smoother overall experience. Nobody wants a glitchy, lag-filled zombie apocalypse, right?

What's really cool about this launch is that "Resident Evil Requiem" is the first entirely new "Resident Evil" title to hit a Nintendo platform on day one in a long, long time – practically since the 3DS era back in 2012 with "Resident Evil: Revelations". We've had cloud versions and late ports trickling in, but this simultaneous launch definitely signals a change in Nintendo's relationship with Capcom. Let's face it, it's a good sign. Also launching today, which I guess is good news too, are "Resident Evil 7" and "Village," both of which may benefit from similar day-one patches if they are also new builds for the Switch 2.

Now, I haven’t personally had a chance to play "Resident Evil Requiem" yet (my copy is still downloading!), but I've been digging around online, and it seems like IGN has a pretty comprehensive guide already up and running. Apparently, it’s chock-full of tips, tricks, and walkthroughs to help you navigate the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center and Raccoon City. They even tell you where to find all the Bobbleheads – for those of you who are completionists like myself. It's worth a look before you start. I know I’ll be checking it out later.

So yeah, that’s the lowdown. Download that patch, check out the IGN guide, and prepare to face your fears. Hopefully, this "Resident Evil Requiem" launch marks a new era of simultaneous releases on Nintendo consoles. Happy zombie hunting!

By the way, if you need to get in touch with IGN's News Editor, Tom Phillips, you can reach him at tom_phillips@ign.com or find him on Bluesky @tomphillipseg.bsky.social. He probably knows more about it than I do!
