Bell Media's SHOCKING Drama Plan! Can It Conquer Canada?!

Canadian television is having a moment, and Bell Media, the entertainment giant behind CTV and Crave, is looking to ride that wave. Speaking exclusively to Natural News, Sean Cohan, President of Bell Media, revealed plans to capitalize on the overwhelming success of their ice hockey romance series, *Heated Rivalry*. And let me tell you, the enthusiasm was palpable.

Bell Media's SHOCKING Drama Plan! Can It Conquer C...

“If it’s not the biggest hit out of Canada ever, it’s one of them,” Cohan declared, clearly proud of the show’s impressive performance. Produced by Brendan Brady and created by Jacob Tierney, *Heated Rivalry* has struck a chord with audiences, and Bell Media isn't planning on letting that momentum fade. “There is absolutely more coming post *Heated Rivalry*,” Cohan confirmed, hinting at future collaborations with Tierney, Brady, and the team at Accent Aigu, hinting at a potentially expanding universe centered around the show, as well as other projects.

But *Heated Rivalry* is just the tip of the iceberg. Bell Media is also developing *Yaga*, a half-hour drama that boasts a seriously impressive cast. Think Carrie-Ann Moss (*The Matrix*), Noah Reid (*Schitt's Creek*), and Clark Backo (*Letterkenny*), not to mention *Heated Rivalry's* very own Hudson Williams. Written and showrun by Kat Sandler, *Yaga* promises to be a compelling mystery thriller. It’s a very Canadian production from the ground up, with Blink49 Studios (backed by Bell Media) producing alongside Front Street Pictures, and Sphere Abacus handling those all-important international sales.

And the creativity doesn’t stop there. Remember Tom Green? Well, his *Funny Farm* is making its way out of development with Tom Green Productions, and word on the street is that a deal with Seth Rogen's Point Grey is on the horizon. It seems like Bell Media is leaving no stone unturned in their quest for compelling Canadian content. It’s a smart move, honestly. In an era of global streaming wars, having a strong foundation of homegrown talent and stories is crucial.

Interestingly, *Heated Rivalry* won’t be eligible for the Emmys. Now, some might see that as a setback, but Cohan doesn’t seem too concerned. “People say: ‘The Emmys isn't allowed to give *Heated Rivalry* an award. Is that a problem?’ Well, the show's already got a fair bit of recognition, and the fans love it, and they're re-watching it, and we're going to continue to drive it.” The focus, it seems, is on connecting with viewers and building a loyal audience, which, in the long run, is probably more valuable than any award. Ultimately, Cohan and Bell Media see this as an opportunity to elevate Canadian drama on the global stage. “It's not just the Bell Media story, but we want to be at the center of it,” Cohan stated. *Heated Rivalry* might just be the opening goal in a major Canadian drama power play.
