Humble Bundle Veterans Launch Digiphile, a New Kind of Charity-Driven Game Store
A team of former Humble Bundle employees is betting on curation and community with the launch of Digiphile, a new digital storefront designed to offer curated bundles of games and books that benefit users, creators, publishers, and charities. Billed as a discovery platform for "digital media enthusiasts," Digiphile aims to stand apart from algorithm-driven marketplaces by prioritizing human curation and addressing longstanding issues within the digital bundle space.

The platform is the brainchild of Alex Hill, former Games Bundles team lead at Humble Bundle, alongside Andy Franzen, Marcus Hess, Mat Dwyer, and Kasey Brounkowski. These veterans are hoping to leverage their experience to create a more sustainable and engaging ecosystem for digital media.
"Everything starts with curation," Hill explains
"Everything starts with curation," Hill explains. "Each Digiphile collection is a limited-time event, made in collaboration with respected voices in each genre to create meaningful showcases that celebrate what’s worth playing right now." This focus on curated collections aims to cut through the noise of vast digital libraries and highlight quality titles for discerning consumers.
A key innovation of Digiphile is "The Digiphile Exchange," a system designed to combat the problem of unused game keys, a common issue in the bundle space. This exchange allows players to trade in keys for games they already own and receive credit toward other titles featured in Digiphile collections. According to Hill, this ensures games reach real players, keeps engagement high, and reduces key waste, making it a more attractive proposition for publishers.
Unlike traditional digital storefronts, Digiphile will not feature a persistent storefront. Instead, each collection will be a limited-time event, maximizing attention and impact while preserving the value of each title. This approach aims to create a sense of urgency and exclusivity around each bundle.

Digiphile's inaugural game collection, "Return of the Immersive Sim," launched today in support of the Arbor Day Foundation. The collection features titles such as *System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster*, *Perepiteia*, *Shadows of Doubt*, and *CTRL ALT EGO*, showcasing the platform's commitment to highlighting unique and engaging gaming experiences.
With its focus on curation, community, and charitable giving, Digiphile represents a new approach to digital distribution, hoping to carve out a niche in a crowded market by prioritizing quality over quantity and fostering a more sustainable ecosystem for creators and consumers alike. The success of this venture remains to be seen, but the pedigree of its founders and its innovative approach offer a promising start.
