Trump-Epstein Files Hidden? Justice Dept. Accused! What Are They Hiding?
Current Affairs 26 February 2026

Washington D.C. - A fresh wave of controversy has erupted in the ongoing saga surrounding the late Jeffrey Epstein, with accusations now leveled against the Justice Department for allegedly withholding crucial documents related to the case. Leading the charge is Representative Robert Garcia, a prominent Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, who is demanding Attorney General Pam Bondi release files he claims contain explosive allegations against former President Donald Trump.

Trump-Epstein Files Hidden? Justice Dept. Accused!...

Garcia, who says he has personally reviewed unreleased documents, alleges that they include accusations of sexual abuse of a minor against Trump, claims that the former president has vehemently denied. It's a complicated situation, to say the least, and the political implications are, well, pretty obvious.

The Justice Department has responded, stating that "NOTHING has been deleted," but that withheld documents were either duplicates, protected by privilege, or pertinent to ongoing federal investigations. A reasonable explanation, perhaps, but skepticism is high given the sensitive nature of the case and the names involved. They've even gone so far as to characterize some of the unreleased files as containing "untrue and sensationalist claims" against Trump.

Adding fuel to the fire, White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson asserted that Trump has actually done *more* for Epstein's victims than anyone else, citing the release of thousands of documents, cooperation with the House Oversight Committee, and the signing of the Epstein Files Transparency Act. It's a bold claim, and one that's sure to be dissected and debated endlessly in the coming days.

Let’s not forget the history here: Epstein and Trump had a well-documented friendship that reportedly soured in the early 2000s, well before Epstein's initial arrest. While some files have been released with redactions, officials acknowledge that other files remain under wraps, citing the need to protect ongoing investigations and victims' identities. This is where things get tricky, as the balance between transparency and protecting sensitive information is always a tightrope walk.

Garcia, however, is adamant. He contends that the files he reviewed "make it clear" that a woman made "additional, specific allegations" against Trump not reflected in the publicly released records. His letter to Attorney General Bondi demands their immediate publication. Bondi's Justice Department, in turn, has accused Democrats on the committee of "misleading the public while manufacturing outrage from their radical anti-Trump base." A real tit-for-tat situation unfolding here. The department has also pledged to review whether any files were improperly withheld.

Adding another layer to the intrigue, NPR reported that indexes and serial numbers in the released files indicate the FBI conducted four interviews with an alleged Epstein victim in 2019, yet three of those witness interviews are apparently missing from the publicly available documents. This revelation only intensifies the calls for full transparency and raises serious questions about what else might be hidden. "This is [the] largest government cover-up in modern history. We are demanding answers," the Democrats on the committee stated. This is a story that’s far from over, and promises to keep us on the edge of our seats for quite some time.
