Netflix's "The Hunting Wives" is gearing up for its second season, and it's snagged a fresh face to stir things up. Deadline is reporting that Casey Mills will be joining the cast in a recurring guest role. Details are pretty scarce right now, but we do know he'll be playing a character named "Nico" and will pop up in at least five episodes. It's all very hush-hush; neither Netflix nor Lionsgate are spilling the beans just yet. But hey, that's Hollywood for ya.
'Hunting Wives' Season 2 SHOCKER: Newcomer to Caus...
For those who missed it, "The Hunting Wives" was a bit of a surprise hit for Netflix last year. It started as a Lionsgate TV production, originally airing on Starz, before Netflix acquired it for a one-year, U.S.-only deal. The series definitely struck a chord with viewers, as Netflix quickly greenlit a second season following its debut. Now, it's becoming a genuine Netflix staple.
Season one, created by Rebecca Cutter, was loosely based on May Cobb's bestselling novel of the same name. This time around, however, Season 2 will be charting its own course. Cutter and the team are building on the foundations laid by the first season’s finale, which left quite a few threads dangling. What that means exactly remains to be seen, but I'm betting on more suspense and drama.
Speaking of drama, the second season promises plenty of it. Sophie (Snow) and Margo (Åkerman) find themselves estranged, but – as these things always seem to go – long-buried secrets and some new, nasty adversaries will force them to reunite. The series will likely keep to its roots: exploring the lives of affluent women and the dark secrets they harbor. The tagline for the upcoming season is particularly intriguing: "Are they the hunters, or the hunted?" That’s the kind of question that keeps me hitting "next episode" until 3 AM.
So, who is Casey Mills? Well, he's definitely been busy. He recently starred in "F*cktoys," which, provocative title aside, actually garnered a Special Jury Award at SXSW. He also just wrapped filming on "Here for the Weekend," J. Casey Modderno's directorial debut, which has Will Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum's Gloria Sanchez Productions backing it. That’s a pretty impressive pedigree, in my book. Plus, he's set to appear in the upcoming slasher horror film "He's Watching You." Talk about range!
His television resume includes recurring roles in "As We See It" and "Nashville," and he's also made guest appearances in shows like "Swarm," "Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage," and even "Lucifer." It's clear Mills is a rising talent, and "The Hunting Wives" seems like a solid vehicle for him to showcase his skills. He's represented by Buchwald, Ran Aubrey Frazier, and STW Talent. We'll be keeping an eye out for any more clues about his character, Nico. Stay tuned!
