Roblox Child Safety Crisis: Is Your Kid at Risk?! What Parents Must Know!
Gaming News 24 February 2026

Roblox is walking a tightrope these days, and everyone knows it. The wildly popular online gaming platform, a virtual playground for millions of kids, is facing a barrage of criticism and legal action regarding child safety. Dr. Elizabeth Milovidov, Roblox's Head of Parental Advocacy, recently spoke out, acknowledging the significant "challenge" the company faces in protecting its young users.

Roblox Child Safety Crisis: Is Your Kid at Risk?! ...

In an interview with Vulture, Milovidov addressed the elephant in the room: the reports of children encountering inappropriate content and, even more disturbingly, predatory individuals. She admitted the company is aware of the varied parental feedback – some positive, some deeply concerned – regarding potential dangers lurking within the platform's seemingly innocent digital world. And let's be honest, as a parent myself, that "ick" feeling when your kid is on a platform you don't fully understand is all too real.

The question of responsibility – whose burden is it to keep kids safe online? – is a complex one. When pressed on the balance between parental oversight and Roblox's own duty of care, Milovidov didn't mince words. "Oh, 1,000 percent… I would say the company has even more responsibility," she stated. Strong words, indeed. She further added, "I think all the tech companies have a responsibility to ensure that they are doing their utmost to make sure the platform is safe. Do I think Roblox is doing that? Yes, I do. I wouldn't be here if I didn't. Do I think there's more to be done? Yes, I do." It's a carefully worded statement, acknowledging progress while admitting the work is far from over. This constant need to improve, to adapt, is something I've seen repeatedly in covering tech companies and their approaches to child safety. The landscape is always shifting.

Milovidov also emphasized the importance of parental engagement, suggesting parents actively participate in their children's Roblox experiences. "Let your child guide you," she advised. "Ask them what they're doing on Roblox. Ask them, 'Has anything ever happened that made them feel a little icky?'" While this sounds good in theory, the reality is that many parents are already stretched thin. Finding the time and energy to navigate the intricacies of Roblox alongside their kids can be a daunting task. It shouldn't be solely on the parents, especially when these companies make so much money from these children.

The timing of this interview couldn't be more critical. Roblox is currently battling a wave of lawsuits, including one from Los Angeles County alleging the platform facilitates the targeting of children by adults. Multiple families have also filed lawsuits alleging similar failures. From class-action suits to individual cases detailing alleged grooming and even sexual assault, the accusations are serious and paint a concerning picture. Whether Roblox can successfully navigate these legal challenges and demonstrably improve its child safety measures remains to be seen. One thing is certain: the spotlight is firmly on them.
