Steam Next Fest Trailer: Prepare to Be Terrified! What Lurks Inside?
Gaming News 23 February 2026

Alright folks, buckle up, because PlayMud Studio just dropped a trailer for their new game "Pass the Fear," and it looks like pure, unadulterated chaos in the best possible way. Think demon hunters, relentless hordes, and a whole lotta bullets flying every which way. It's a 2D top-down action roguelike shooter, which, let's be honest, is a mouthful, but also perfectly describes the frantic energy I'm getting from this thing.

Steam Next Fest Trailer: Prepare to Be Terrified! ...

The trailer, released just in time for Steam Next Fest, gives us a glimpse into the dark and twisted world PlayMud has crafted. We're talking corrupted landscapes, desperate escapes, and a general sense of impending doom. You play as a Demon hunter, trapped on a cursed island and desperately trying to survive until sunrise. Sounds like a bad vacation, if you ask me. And trust me, I’ve had a few of those.

But here’s the kicker: you’re not defenseless. "Pass the Fear" promises a wide array of weaponry to blast those demonic hordes back to where they came from. The trailer showed off some pretty sweet-looking firearms, but it also highlighted the strategic use of environmental hazards. Elemental barrels, apparently, are your friend. Explosions, fire, the works – exactly what you need when facing down an army of darkness. Then there are the relic fusions – which I'm guessing are some kind of power-up system. Color me intrigued.

Now, I've seen a lot of roguelikes in my day, and what often makes or breaks them is the replayability. Does it feel fresh each time you dive in? Does the difficulty feel fair, or just frustrating? The promise of diverse weapons, environmental interactions, and those relic fusions suggests PlayMud is aiming for a deep and engaging experience. And that's good news for us.

The best part? You don’t have to just take my word for it. A demo of "Pass the Fear" is available right now as part of the Steam Next Fest. So go download it, give it a whirl, and see if it lives up to the hype. The full game is slated for release on PC via Steam, so keep your eyes peeled. This one has the potential to be a real gem for fans of the genre. I know I'm adding it to my wishlist. After all, who doesn't love a good demon hunt?
