Okay, so remember watching the Milan Cortina Olympics and being bombarded with commercials? Well, one in particular caught my eye, and apparently, a lot of other people's too. It featured none other than Kate Hudson, Oscar nominee and all-around Hollywood royalty, and it was all about the upcoming LA28 Olympics. Now, I'm not usually one to get excited about promotional videos, but this one was… different. It kind of made you want to pack your bags and head to Southern California, even if it’s still four years away!

Kate Hudson's Olympics Promo Has Fans Packing Thei...

The spot aired on NBC, which makes sense considering their deep ties to the Olympics broadcast rights. And Hudson wasn’t just standing around looking pretty, though she certainly did that! She was actually singing. Yes, singing! Remember "Song Sung Blue?" It’s that feel-good movie she starred in, and this promo cleverly wove together the Olympic spirit with the film's themes of California dreams and aspirations. Smart marketing, if you ask me.

It wasn't some crazy, Tom Cruise-level stunt or anything, more of a feel-good anthem showcasing the vibrant landscape and diverse athleticism that Los Angeles is known for. What really struck me was the seamless integration of Olympic and Paralympic athletes. It wasn't just about the big-name stars; it was about celebrating the dedication and perseverance of all the athletes striving for that Olympic dream. That's something I can definitely get behind.

Of course, there's a nice little synergy play going on here as well. “Song Sung Blue,” the film she stars in, is an NBCU production (Focus Features, to be exact) and currently streaming on Peacock. So, airing the ad on NBC during the Olympics broadcast? Genius. It’s a triple whammy of promotion: the Olympics, the movie, and Hudson herself. You have to admire the savvy. It certainly beats those insurance ads we're usually stuck with during commercial breaks!

Honestly, the whole thing left me feeling strangely optimistic. Maybe it was the California sunshine radiating from the screen, or maybe it was the genuine enthusiasm of the athletes featured. Whatever it was, Kate Hudson and the LA28 promo definitely succeeded in planting a seed of excitement for the games to come. Four years is a long time, but if this is the kind of energy they're bringing, count me in. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go stream "Song Sung Blue."
