Well folks, some news that might be a little disheartening for Barry Manilow fans: the legendary singer-songwriter is postponing more tour dates as he continues his recovery from cancer surgery. Manilow, the man behind countless singalong classics, made the announcement himself on social media, and frankly, it sounds like his doctors are putting their foot down.
Barry Manilow's Tour CRUSHED! Shocking Health Upda...
Apparently, despite his best efforts, his lungs just aren't quite ready for the rigors of a full, 90-minute concert. I can only imagine the disappointment he must be feeling. After all, he was already excited about getting back on stage. He even underwent surgery for Stage 1 lung cancer only recently, in late December. He had hoped to get back on stage as soon as possible.
The details are that the first leg of his tour, originally slated for February 27th to March 17th, will have to be pushed back. His surgeon, after a recent check-up, advised him that he simply wasn't ready. He was unable to perform for an extended period of time. The good news, or at least the slightly better news, is that the surgeon believes a return to the stage might be possible sometime in late March or early April. So, there's still hope for fans eager to see him perform live.
Manilow, ever the showman, expressed his sincere apologies to his loyal fanbase. He emphasized that he's doing everything he can to get back on stage as soon as his health allows. "The doctor said that my body had been through hell and that it needed time to heal. So, I’m going back to healing," he wrote. And you know, that's exactly what he should be doing. He also expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support he's received, which I'm sure means the world to him.
These affected dates are actually rescheduled shows from January, part of his farewell tour, "The Last Concerts." He had previously encouraged fans to grab tickets, promising a memorable goodbye. I remember him even saying that people will want to say they were there to say goodbye. Earlier this month, his Las Vegas residency, initially planned for February 12-21, also faced postponement. It just goes to show you, even legends need time to recover. Hopefully, he will be back on his feet and on stage by April!
