WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – No. 7 Purdue absolutely dismantled rival Indiana Friday night, securing a resounding 93-64 victory and splitting the season series in a game that felt anything but close. Trey Kaufman-Renn led the charge with a stellar 20-point performance, while Braden Smith orchestrated the offense beautifully, racking up 15 points and eight assists. This was a statement win for the Boilermakers, plain and simple.

Purdue Crushes Indiana! Kaufman-Renn's UNSTOPPABLE...

The atmosphere in Mackey Arena was electric, and the team fed off that energy. This victory snapped a two-game losing streak to the Hoosiers, and the 93 points marked Purdue's highest scoring output in this rivalry since way back in 1998. To put it in perspective, they’re talking about a game where the Boilermakers managed a 44-point beatdown – the largest victory margin for Purdue since 1969. Talk about a historical performance!

It wasn't just Kaufman-Renn and Smith who were firing on all cylinders. Fletcher Loyer and the always-reliable Omer Mayer chipped in with 18 points apiece. Loyer was particularly impressive, going a perfect 5-for-5 from the field, including four three-pointers, and sinking all four of his free throws. With Kaufman-Renn, Smith, and Loyer potentially making their final Indiana appearance in Mackey Arena, this felt like a passing of the torch, a definitive stamp on their legacy.

This win was crucial for Purdue, especially after their earlier loss to top-ranked Michigan. They needed to bounce back, and they did so emphatically. You could see the fire in their eyes from the opening tip. They were focused, determined, and played with a level of intensity that Indiana simply couldn't match.

Lamar Wilkerson did his best for Indiana, scoring 18 of his 20 points in the second half, but it wasn't enough. Tayton Conerway added 12 points and seven assists, and Tucker DeVries chipped in with 11. But ultimately, Indiana struggled to find any offensive rhythm. Their post players were constantly battling foul trouble, and they just couldn't handle Purdue's size and physicality inside.

Purdue established dominance early, going on an 11-4 run to build a commanding 26-14 lead. They never looked back. The lead ballooned to 46-29, and even though Nick Dorn’s buzzer-beating three-pointer was ultimately waved off after review, the message was clear: Purdue was in control. Kaufman-Renn and Loyer came out strong in the second half, extending the lead to 54-32, and Indiana was simply unable to mount any kind of comeback. They led from start to finish, a true wire-to-wire victory.

Looking ahead, Indiana begins its final homestand Tuesday against Northwestern. Purdue, on the other hand, will look to close out a three-game homestand strong against No. 15 Michigan State on Thursday. If they bring the same energy and execution they showed against Indiana, they'll be tough to beat.
