Electric Car Game Changer! 500km Range Now a Reality? You Won't Believe These Models!
Automotive 20 February 2026

Okay, so the electric vehicle revolution is definitely here, and one of the biggest concerns people have is range anxiety. You know, that nagging feeling that you're going to be stranded on the side of the road, desperately searching for a charging station. Well, some recent real-world testing is giving us some serious hope. Forget those pie-in-the-sky manufacturer claims that often fall apart as soon as you hit the highway; we're talking about actual, usable range here.

Electric Car Game Changer! 500km Range Now a Reali...

L'argus, a reputable automotive publication, just dropped a bombshell by revealing which EVs are *actually* capable of exceeding 500 kilometers (that's about 310 miles) on a single charge in real-world conditions. Now, we've all seen those manufacturer claims touting 800km, even 900km ranges, but those are often based on laboratory tests – the WLTP standards, to be exact – which don't always translate to real-world driving. This test throws some cold water on those claims, but also highlights some true performers.

And the winner? Drumroll please... it's the Mercedes EQS 450+. This German engineering marvel, the electric flagship of Mercedes-Benz, absolutely crushed it. Its massive 107.8 kWh battery allowed it to travel a whopping 667 kilometers (around 414 miles). That's enough to make a serious dent in that range anxiety. I mean, that's almost a full day of driving for most people!

Coming in at a respectable second place is the Tesla Model 3 (Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive). No real surprise there, right? Tesla's always been a leader in efficiency. The Model 3 managed 613 kilometers (roughly 381 miles) on a single charge. But here's the kicker: it also earned the title of "efficiency champion," consuming only 13.3 kWh per 100 km. That's pretty impressive, and it shows that Tesla's not just about range; they're also focused on making the most of every electron.

Rounding out the top three is the Volkswagen ID.7 Pro. Now, this one's interesting because it's known for its spacious interior. It secured the third spot with a range of 588 kilometers (around 365 miles). So, not only are you getting a comfortable ride, but you're also getting a pretty decent range. It's a good sign that manufacturers are starting to prioritize both comfort and practicality in their electric offerings.

So, what does all this mean? It means that the prospect of owning an EV without constantly worrying about running out of juice is becoming a reality. And as battery technology continues to improve, expect these ranges to climb even higher. The future of driving is electric, and it's looking brighter – and longer-ranged – than ever before.
