Good news for travelers! Aer Lingus is making life a little easier (and cheaper) for those of us who like to pack light. The Irish airline announced it's extending its existing 10-kilogramme carry-on baggage policy to *all* Aer Lingus Regional flights operated by Emerald Airlines. And honestly, this is a welcome change.
Aer Lingus Baggage BOMBSHELL! Will YOUR Regional F...
This policy shift, effective from the beginning of March, will apply to a wide range of routes, including domestic flights within Ireland and the UK, as well as those handy hops across Europe. This is especially great for those quick weekend getaways or business trips where you don't want to lug around a giant suitcase.
Previously, if you wanted to bring that slightly-larger-than-a-handbag 10kg bag, it would have cost you €9.99 on bookings that didn't specifically include it. Now, that fee is gone! Every little bit helps, right?
But wait, there’s more! In addition to the 10kg carry-on, all Aer Lingus and Aer Lingus Regional passengers are still allowed to bring a smaller personal item on board free of charge. Think a handbag or a laptop bag – something that can comfortably fit under the seat in front of you. And the dimensions for this personal item are pretty generous, too, at 40cm x 30cm x 20cm. So, you can probably squeeze in a bit more than you think!
It's also worth noting that AerClub members get a little extra love. If you're a Silver, Platinum, or Concierge tier member, you get to enjoy the 10-kilogramme carry-on benefit across the entire Aer Lingus Regional network. Loyalty programs are always a nice perk, and this one seems particularly useful.
According to Susanne Carberry, Aer Lingus Chief Customer Officer, this decision was driven by customer feedback and a desire to offer more convenience and flexibility. "Whether it’s a quick business trip or a longer break, our policy ensures all customers have the option to travel with a 10kg bag at no extra cost," she said. And honestly, that sounds about right. Airlines are starting to realize that customer experience *does* matter, and policies like this are a good step in the right direction.
So, if you’re planning a trip with Aer Lingus Regional in the near future, you can breathe a sigh of relief knowing you've got a bit more freedom with your luggage. And who knows, maybe this move will encourage other airlines to follow suit. A girl can dream, can't she?
