Villanova managed to squeak out their sixth consecutive win last night in a nail-biting overtime showdown against Xavier, finishing with a 92-89 victory. It was a game that kept you on the edge of your seat, folks. Truly. The Wildcats, now sitting pretty at 21-5 overall and 12-3 in the Big East, had to dig deep to overcome a resilient Xavier squad.

Acaden Lewis was the star of the show, putting up a stellar 21 points, with five of those crucial points coming in overtime. But he wasn't just scoring; Lewis also hauled in seven rebounds, dished out six assists, and even managed to snag four steals. Talk about filling up the stat sheet! He really seemed to be everywhere on the court, making plays when they mattered most. That's the kind of performance that wins games.

Tyler Perkins chipped in a solid 17 points, although he had to work for them, going 6-for-15 from the field. Still, those free throws late in the game, going 4-for-5, were clutch. Bryce Lindsay also provided a spark off the bench, hitting four of his eight three-point attempts en route to a 15-point performance. It's always important to have guys who can come in and provide that offensive boost, and Lindsay definitely delivered.

Xavier, however, didn't just roll over. Tre Carroll was an absolute beast for the Musketeers, pouring in 28 points and grabbing 10 rebounds for a double-double. Jovan Milicevic also had a strong outing with 20 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and three blocks. Malik Moore contributed 15 points and seven assists as well. They really came to play. It was a balanced offensive effort for Xavier, but ultimately, it wasn't quite enough.

The game was tight from the get-go. Villanova took a narrow 43-42 lead into halftime, with Lewis already pacing the team with 11 points. You could feel the tension in the building. The second half remained a back-and-forth affair, with neither team able to pull away significantly. Tre Carroll managed to tie the game at 81-all at the end of regulation, forcing the overtime period. Honestly, at that point, anyone's guess was as good as mine as to who would pull it out.

Ultimately, Villanova kept their composure in overtime, and Lewis took over, securing the victory. Xavier, now 13-13 overall and 5-10 in the Big East, showed plenty of fight, but couldn't quite close the deal. It was an exciting game to watch, showcasing the intensity and competitiveness of Big East basketball. Villanova continues its winning streak, and they will look to keep the momentum going, while Xavier will try to regroup and bounce back from this tough loss.
