Hyper Scape Returns?! Fans Shocked by Unlikely Revival Project!
Gaming News 17 February 2026

Ubisoft's foray into the battle royale arena, Hyper Scape, may not be entirely dead after all. Remember that game? It launched with a fair bit of hype but ultimately fizzled out, with the servers being switched off in April 2022. While it didn't exactly set the world on fire, some players genuinely loved its fast-paced movement and verticality – a refreshing change from the usual BR fare. Well, a dedicated fan is attempting the seemingly impossible: bringing Hyper Scape back from the digital grave.

Hyper Scape Returns?! Fans Shocked by Unlikely Rev...

A user going by the name of Fiirce has been hard at work reverse-engineering the game, and the results are… well, promising, at least. On February 16th, Fiirce took to X/Twitter (formerly Twitter, of course) to show off Hyper Scape running offline. And not just running, but playable, with bot opponents providing some target practice. This is a pretty big deal considering Hyper Scape was entirely dependent on Ubisoft's now-defunct online infrastructure. I remember playing it briefly, and it was always online, always connected. To see it running offline is genuinely impressive.

Now, before you get too excited about dropping back into Neo Arcadia, there are a few caveats. Fiirce is very clear that this is a very early, very private alpha. Access is limited, and it seems like he's primarily looking for people with serious reverse engineering chops to help with the project. He even posted a gameplay clip on X/Twitter (embedded above) to showcase the progress. It certainly looks like the Hyper Scape we remember, which is a testament to his dedication.

But here's the kicker: multiplayer is a *long* way off. Fiirce estimates that getting even basic online functionality working could take "months or even years." It's a massive undertaking, and he's not sugarcoating the challenges. Still, the fact that he's managed to get this far has already generated a lot of buzz online. Maybe the renewed interest will attract the expertise needed to speed things up. One can hope, right?

Of course, the big question mark hanging over this whole endeavor is Ubisoft. Will they step in and shut down the project? It's a common enough story: a publisher sees a fan project as a potential threat to their IP and issues a cease and desist. While it seems unlikely Ubisoft would revive Hyper Scape themselves, stranger things have happened. Another possibility is that another publisher could acquire the rights and give the game a new lease on life. Remember the fate of Paragon: The Overprime? Let's hope that Fiirce’s dedication doesn’t suffer a similar setback.
