NBA All-Star SHOCKER! Is Alperen Şengün Ready to Dominate?!
Sports 15 February 2026

All eyes are on Los Angeles as the NBA's brightest stars prepare to converge for the 2026 All-Star weekend. But for fans in Turkey, there's a special reason to tune in: Alperen Şengün, the Houston Rockets' rising star, is ready to shine.

NBA All-Star SHOCKER! Is Alperen Şengün Ready to D...

The All-Star game, tipping off Monday at 1:00 AM Turkish Standard Time (TSİ), promises to be a showcase of talent at the Intuit Dome, the brand-new home of the Los Angeles Clippers. This year's format is getting a shakeup, and I have to say, it sounds pretty exciting.

Forget the traditional East vs. West – this year, we're seeing a U.S. team, a team of rising American stars, and a World Team battling it out. And you guessed it, Şengün will proudly represent the World Team! Each squad will play 12-minute contests, and the top two will go head-to-head in a championship showdown. This marks Şengün's second consecutive All-Star appearance, a huge accomplishment that makes him the first Turkish player to achieve back-to-back selections. Quite the feat!

Now, about those starting lineups... The East was initially slated to feature Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jaylen Brown, Jalen Brunson, Cade Cunningham, and Tyrese Maxey. The West had Stephen Curry, Luka Dončić, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokić, and Victor Wembanyama ready to go. However, injuries have unfortunately sidelined Antetokounmpo, Curry, and Gilgeous-Alexander. It's always a bummer when injuries impact these events, but hopefully, their replacements will bring the same level of energy.

Speaking of legends, LeBron James' incredible 21-year streak of All-Star starts has come to an end this year. It's a bit surreal to think about, considering his dominance for so long. But fear not, King James fans! At 41 years old, he’ll still be participating in his 22nd All-Star game as a reserve, extending his own record. Talk about longevity and dedication!

Let’s break down those team rosters a bit more. The "NBA Stars" team, featuring the young guns, includes Scottie Barnes, Devin Booker, Cade Cunningham, Jalen Duren, Anthony Edwards, Chet Holmgren, Jalen Johnson, and Tyrese Maxey. The "NBA Stripes," the seasoned veterans, boasts Jaylen Brown, Jalen Brunson, Kevin Durant, Brandon Ingram, LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, Donovan Mitchell, and Norman Powell. And finally, the World Team, where Şengün will shine alongside Deni Avdija, Luka Dončić, Nikola Jokić, Jamal Murray, Pascal Siakam, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Victor Wembanyama. What a lineup!

It's going to be interesting to see how this new format plays out, and I, for one, am eager to see Şengün represent Turkey on this global stage. Tune in, folks, it's going to be a weekend full of highlights!
