Danny Ramirez’s soccer drama, “Baton,” just leveled up in a major way. Forget scoring goals on the field; this film is assembling an all-star team off the field. Edgar Ramírez, Eugenio Derbez, Rosario Dawson, Gabriel Luna, and Mía Maestro have all signed on to join the already stacked cast. And get this – Ramirez himself is not only directing, from a script he wrote, but also starring in it. Talk about wearing multiple hats!

The news is buzzing around the European Film Market (EFM), where "Baton" is currently being presented to potential buyers. Manifest Pictures and Gramercy Park Media are handling international sales, while WME Independent and CAA are managing domestic rights. Basically, everyone wants a piece of this pie. With a cast like this, you can see why.

Joining this impressive group are some other familiar faces. We already knew Maia Reficco, Diego Calva, Camila Mendes, Ester Expósito, Becky G, Noah Beck, and Lewis Pullman were on board. That's a lot of talent crammed into one project, and while details about everyone's roles are still tightly under wraps, the sheer star power suggests something pretty special. This project is attracting big names and that speaks volumes. It tells me it will be a big success.

Behind the scenes, the executive producers are a who's who of industry heavyweights. David Beckham and Nicola Howson from Studio 99 are involved, along with Carlos Delgado Zarco for Level Up, R. Wesley Sierk III for CaliWood Pictures, and a whole host of others. When you see that kind of backing, it's a good sign that the project has legs. A good executive producer can make or break a movie, so having so many on board is quite the endorsement.

Let's talk about these new additions for a moment. Edgar Ramírez is fresh off the critical acclaim of "Emilia Pérez" and has Drake Doremus’s "Next Life" on the horizon. Eugenio Derbez is currently charming audiences in the Apple series "Acapulco" and will be gracing the screen alongside Camila Mendes in "Ded." Rosario Dawson, a fan favorite from "Ahsoka," and Gabriel Luna, known for his role in "The Last of Us", continue to prove that this film has some serious acting horsepower. "The Last of Us" has been a breakout hit, so expect to see more of Luna everywhere. With all these talents combined, I am more excited for this film.

“Baton” is shaping up to be more than just a soccer drama; it’s looking like a potential home run. Keep an eye on this one - it has all the ingredients for success.
