Arc Raiders, the extraction shooter that seemingly came out of nowhere, is officially a blockbuster. Publisher Nexon has announced that Embark Studios' title has sold a whopping 14 million copies worldwide. That's not bad for a game that launched just a few months ago in late October 2025.
Arc Raiders: Blockbuster Franchise?! 14M Sales Stu...
Nexon's fiscal report for the final quarter of 2025 painted a rosy picture, highlighting "exceptional retention and strong player metrics." Apparently, Arc Raiders hit a peak of around 960,000 concurrent players in January, a figure that would make most developers drool. And with approximately six million weekly active users, it seems the game has serious staying power.
It's not just about the initial sales either. Nexon is confident that Arc Raiders will keep rolling, with plans for monthly content drops and live events to keep players engaged. This is key, of course, because initial buzz is one thing, but maintaining that momentum is what separates the flash-in-the-pan titles from the true long-term successes.
What's particularly interesting is Nexon's perspective on the game's trajectory. They claim Arc Raiders has defied the "standard quick-up-quick-down trajectory of a hit game," which is a pretty blunt assessment of how most games perform these days. To be branded a "blockbuster" franchise after only 15 weeks is definitely a testament to its success, and perhaps a sign that Embark Studios has really tapped into something special here.
“The success of Arc Raiders stands as a clear proof point in our strategy for global expansion and as a foundation for future releases. Embark has delivered a major new IP set to become an enduring pillar of our portfolio," Nexon stated. It sounds like they're placing a lot of faith in this title, and rightfully so, given the numbers.
Nexon also emphasized that Arc Raiders has "significantly exceeded expectations," allowing them to reposition themselves as a "more diversified, durable and globally competitive company." That's pretty high praise! I remember when the game first launched, there was some skepticism about whether another extraction shooter could really make a dent in the market. Now, it seems like it's doing more than just denting it; it's reshaping the landscape.
In fact, Nexon CEO Junghun Lee revealed in an interview that Arc Raiders delivered "double the amount of success" he originally envisioned. That kind of performance can obviously lead to significant changes, including expansion plans for Nexon in Western markets. It'll be interesting to see how they leverage this success going forward. It really is a remarkable story of a game that seems to have caught lightning in a bottle.
