Alright folks, mark your calendars! ITV just dropped the trailer for "Gone," and it looks like we're in for another twisty-turny Psychological thriller. If you're a fan of "Lupin," you'll be especially interested; this one comes from the mind of George Kay, one of the co-creators behind that Netflix hit. Kay's got a knack for crafting suspense, and "Gone" seems to be following suit.

The series stars Eve Myles and David Morrissey, two names that should definitely pique your interest. Morrissey, of course, we all recognize from "The Walking Dead" and a host of other great roles. He plays Michael Polly, the seemingly upstanding headmaster of a fancy private school. But here's the kicker: when his wife, Sarah, mysteriously disappears, suspicion immediately falls on him. Talk about a rough day at the office!
What sets "Gone" apart isn't just the star power or the writer’s pedigree. It's the real-world foundation. The show is actually inspired by the experiences of Julie Mackay, a former Detective Superintendent, and ITV Crime Correspondent Robert Murphy. They even consulted on the project, which is a major plus. Apparently, the series draws heavily from their book, "To Hunt A Killer." This adds a layer of authenticity you just don't get in a lot of crime dramas. I'm always a bit more invested when I know there’s some factual basis for the story – it just makes it all the more chilling.
Kay seems to be building a stable of actors he enjoys working with, which is a good sign. He's collaborated with Morrissey before on ITV's "The Long Shadow" and with Myles on Apple TV's "Hijack." That familiarity likely translates to a smoother production and a more cohesive vision on screen. Plus, with Richard Laxton, a BAFTA-winning director, at the helm, "Gone" has a solid creative team backing it.
Produced by Kay's All3Media-backed Observatory Pictures and New Pictures, in association with All3Media International, this project is set to premiere next month. I've personally got my DVR ready. Between the intriguing premise, the talented cast, and the real-world expertise informing the narrative, "Gone" has all the makings of a truly gripping series. Keep an eye out for it, folks, you won't want to miss this one!
