A newly unearthed FBI document is raising eyebrows and stirring up old questions about Donald Trump's relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The document, a 2019 FBI interview transcript, details claims made by former Palm Beach Police Chief Michael Reiter, alleging that Trump contacted him back in 2006, shortly after the department began investigating Epstein.
Trump's SHOCKING Epstein Revelation: What He Knew ...
According to the summary, Trump, then a businessman, called Reiter to express his appreciation for the investigation. The document quotes Trump as saying, "Thank goodness you're stopping him, everyone has known he's been doing this." This isn't just some random guy on the street, this is a former police chief speaking under oath to the FBI. It certainly adds weight to the claim.
Reiter, who the document identifies as the head of Palm Beach's police force during the Epstein investigation, confirmed the account to the Miami Herald. He stated Trump contacted him in July 2006, telling him he'd banned Epstein from his Mar-a-Lago club because "people in New York knew he was disgusting." It paints a picture of Trump distancing himself, even then. But the details are where things get really interesting.
Reiter went on to claim that Trump specifically identified Ghislaine Maxwell as Epstein's "operative" and urged the police to "focus on her," describing her as "evil." Remember, Maxwell was convicted in 2021 for her crucial role in trafficking underage girls for Epstein, so this statement, if true, suggests Trump had a keen understanding of the situation at the time. It's almost like he knew more than he let on.
Adding another layer to the already complex narrative, Reiter told the FBI that Trump claimed to have witnessed Epstein with teenagers and that he "got the hell out of there." The document also notes that Trump was among the "very first people to call" Florida police upon hearing about the Epstein investigation. It's a lot to unpack, and it all points to a much more involved relationship, or at least awareness, than Trump has publicly acknowledged.
Of course, Trump's team is pushing back. A spokesperson stated, "What President Trump has always said is that he kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of his Mar-a-Lago club because Jeffrey Epstein was a creep. And that remains true in this call. If it did happen it corroborates exactly what President Trump has said from the beginning." Trump has previously claimed their falling out occurred because Epstein tried to poach employees from Mar-a-Lago. But frankly, that explanation feels a little thin given the gravity of the allegations.
This news comes hot on the heels of Ghislaine Maxwell's virtual testimony before the US House Oversight Committee on Monday. Maxwell, currently serving a 20-year sentence, invoked her Fifth Amendment right to remain silent, according to Chairman James Comer. Her lawyer claims she would be "prepared to speak fully and honestly if granted clemency by President Trump." The whole saga just keeps getting stranger and stranger, doesn't it?
